New iPad 2 coming to Sprint ?.. information found on iOS 5.1 beta

By: t-marco November 29th, 2011

Apple has just released a new iOS 5.1 beta for developers. What is interesting here is that there is some information about new devices coming next year and some of them coming to Sprint.  The first one is : “iPad2,4,” could refer to a new version of the iPad 2 set to hit Sprint’s network. Also included in the new iOS build are references to the “iPad3,1″ and iPad3,2,” both of which have already been spied in earlier versions of iOS.  Finally, the “iPhone5,1″, this beauty is not announced and probably will be coming next year.

Rumors suggest the new phone will feature  a new processor and a 4-inch display built by Sony and Hitachi.

More iPhone Rumors : iPhone 5 could be Sprint Exclusive .. but at what cost?

By: t-marco October 4th, 2011

According with BGR, Sprint could be the first and only carrier ( at least until the first quarter 2012) to carry the iPhone 5.  Today, Apple will announce 2 iPhones, the 4S and the new iPhone 5. The iPhone 4S will be available at AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. On the other hand, the iPhone 5 will be available at Sprint exclusively after paying $20 billion to Apple and assuring a good sell.

That is a big and risky move of Sprint. Here is the information from BGR:

“I have been told that Sprint will be getting the iPhone 5 — yes the real iPhone 5, not the iPhone 4S — as an exclusive. And it will be a 4G WiMAX device. AT&T and Verizon would launch the iPhone 4S and get the iPhone 5 some time in the first quarter of next year as an LTE device. Globally, the iPhone 5 might be available as a 4G HSPA+ device. The iPhone 4S Apple will introduce tomorrow will feature the following:

  • A low voltage Apple A5 CPU (it won’t be the same as the iPad 2 chip, clock for clock).
  • Updated front and back camera sensors. FaceTime HD in the front, 8 megapixel 1080p HD video recording in the back.
  • Multiband 3G Qualcomm chipset — North American & International GSM/UMTS/HSPA bands for AT&T and Global carriers, North American CDMA & International GSM/UMTS/HSPA bands for Verizon and Sprint.
  • NFC support
  • Metal or “premium” plastic on the back case.

Here is what my source said about the iPhone 5 that will launch as a Sprint exclusive:

  • Faster CPU.
  • Larger 4-inch screen, similar to LG’s NOVA display but higher resolution.
  • 1GB of RAM.
  • Slightly larger design overall but thinner, and a larger battery.
  • 32GB
  • iPhone 5 exclusive software and APIs (Assistant).
  • Dedicated Assistant button, possibly integrated with the new home button, “think gestures or a two-stage button like a camera shutter key)”
