By: Mark Tiedemann March 23rd, 2010

This morning Sprint has announced more cities to receive WiMax 4G this year.

The cities included in the announcement are:

Cincinnati

Cleveland

Los Angeles

Miami

Pittsburgh

Salt Lake City

St. Louis

These cities will join Boston, Denver, Kansas City, Houston, Minneapolis, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.  which Sprint previously announced would receive WiMax before the end of the year.

It looks like Sprint is on track bring WiMax (4G) coverage to 120 million people by the end of the year.

Does Sprint offer WiMax (4G) coverage in your area?  Chime in if you have used it and what your thoughts are.

I set up Clear’s WiMax (same service, just not sold by Sprint) at an office in Atlanta, GA. The installation was super easy and it works great. For about $70/month I get 6Mb/1Mb internet and a phone line. If you have Clear/Sprint in your area and you’re sick of your current ISP, I would say make the switch.

Are cities that already have Clearwire more likely to get 4G. I live in Richmond, VA but there has been no word of 4G here.

I’ve been waiting for them to say something about Richmond as well.. You would think they would go ahead and “upgrade,” but not sure if it is that simple.. Would love to see it here soon.. I’ll even help them.. :)

Seems to me that Nashville was amongst the first to get EVDO, but even though we have clear, no WiMax on the horizon *sob*.

Sprint needs to fill Florida with 4G soon…. Florida is a vacational state and it will serve as advertisement itself… Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Sarasota and Tallahassee must be a priority.
