Opera Mini 5 now as a native WM app

By: Mark Tiedemann March 4th, 2010

One of the dislikes I’ve always had with Windows Mobile was the lack of quality web browsers that allowed you to have a “desktop experience” when browsing the web.   The good news is that the fine folks over at Opera, who has been in the mobile web browsing game for a long time has announced Opera Mini 5 as a native Windows Mobile app.

Previous versions you had to use a Java app to make it run which often times was slow and hard to install.  Now all you need to do is install the .cab file and it runs.

Opera Mini uses server side rendering so it’s fast and uses less data which should make the cell phone carriers happy.

More information on the features you can expect from Opera Mini are available from Opera’s site. To download the application, point your mobile browser to http://m.opera.com/next/mini.

What is your favorite web browser for Windows Mobile?

Downloaded Mini 5 beta and installed it painlessly.

Still trying to figure out the quirks of advanced text-entry. Why it doesn’t just behave like the other 99.9% of text-entry on the phone is beyond me. (Moto Q9C WinMo 6.1)
