By: Mark Tiedemann April 9th, 2010

and once again we take another ride in the rumor mobile, so fasten your seat belts this is going to be a fun one!

A local Taiwan newspaper is reporting that there has been some deep talks between HTC and Palm. Neither company would either confirm or deny the rumor, although Palm chief Jon Rubinstein has previously said his company would be open to being bought out if it receives a meaningful offer.
There has been some other talks that Lenovo might be interested in making an offer as well.

Palm’s stock rose today over 10.97% and is currently trading at 5.16.

What do you all think? Would a HTC owned Palm keep Web OS?

personally I think it could be a good idea if HTC was gonna set up a new line of phones. They could hit the world with a 3 (or 4 if you cont brew)attack. Id love to see more web o/s phones that I would use. I wouldnt touch a pre or pixi both seem so girly.

If HTC is smart they will buy Palm for nothing more than their patent library.

Palm has 2 very valuable assets, looking forward, in terms of a Merger & Acquisitions perspective…

    1)Palm’s Patent Library
    2)Palm’s webOS Operating System

Someone will buy Palm, simply, if for no other reason, to possess their patent library which is quite impressive. I just hope & pray that webOS continues to be improved & finds itself greater market share going forward. I LOVE webOS!!! I personally like the idea of HTC buying Palm, if & only if they are trult committed to proliferating webOS to the masses. I’d love to see webOS running on The HTC EVO & The Touch Pro2.
