Wirelessly posted (Samsung-SPHA900 AU-MIC-A900/2.0 MMP/2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

Is there any way Sprint can send me copies of text messages sent and recieved from one of the phones on my account? If so do I just call *2 and tell them that's what I want or what? Thanks in advance for your help. Dave

I didn't know if you could get copies of them or not. It's not that important. My ex has turned out to be a liar and I just wanted to see if she's a bigger liar than I think she is.

It is against FCC regulations for any and i mean ANY carrier to keep on file records like that.. Sprint doesn't keep any records of text messages or voicemails.. hope this helps..

according to sprint it is also fcc regulations that they do not disclose unbilled call detail, or log numbers from incoming calls for detailed billing. BUT, Cingular does this?

not disclosing unbilled call detail is actually a Sprint policy, not an fcc regulation. there are legal ramifications that can arise if sprint released that info to someone who wasnt really authorized to have it, which is why sprint does not do it.

I think certain carriers do keep them on file.. because I remember reading in a court case a year or 2 ago that some of the evidence included "2-way messaging transcripts/records" .. I wouldn't doubt that all carriers keep them on record.. at least for a certain amount of time (ie: 3 months?)..
---
And if someone was averaging 2k a day.. it sounds like a text spammer.

ive heard this also, that the texts stay in a buffer of sorts, and can be retrieved for a short period of time. of course, not for the general public, only in cases involving the law or other possible emergency situations. for example, Sprint offered to save voicemails left by victims of 9-11 to loved ones before they died, and record it to a tape cassette.

Yes, they can and do

Just wanted to tack on a note to this post, though it's a year old. Sprint can and does keep your text messages. Along the same subject as the original poster, a friend of mine was involved in an affair with a married woman, and her suspicous husband contacted sprint (or, at least someone he knew at sprint) and received a fax containing a transcript of his wife's text messages from the last 6 months - which busted them. Her phone was on his account. I held the report in my hand. I assure you, they keep the messages.
