Sanyo 5300 vs Samsung A500
For some reason (didn't bother finding out), I couldn't reply to the previous topic as mine, so here's my take on the two phones in comparison. I've owned the A500 and now have the 5300. Remember, this is only my opinion.
1. Camera: Hands down, the Sanyo has far superior camera. Different qualities and zoom. Color and Balance controls. FLASH! Better shutter speed (pictures aren't as blurred). The biggest thing, though, is the process of uploading your pictures. With the Samsung, you'd have to upload them to the net first (which more than half the time, I had errors), then download them to your phone, which adds on a really funky name for the pic. With the Sanyo, the picture wallet is great way to store on the phone without taking much memory and uploading is so EASY! 2. Browser: All of us know about the troubled A500 firmware problem. I had just as many frustrations as many of others. What's worse, the only response from Sprint I got was "I don't know" or "We're not sure" while Samsung told me to check with Sprint on their own product. In short, for those who don't know, you couldn't make SSL connections at all with the A500. The problem is probably fixed by now, but I'm not sure. What's more, the 5300 browser goes beyond by giving better html support than the OpenWave browser and doesn't crash anywhere near as many times. 3. Outside LCD. Ok, so you have to press a button to see the date/time on the 5300. Are people that lazy? I press it by acciden't anyways, so it's no big deal to me. Also when someone calls, i can have any image, in color, show up on the screen whereas the A500 is limited to a small selection of line art images that you couldn't even update. Also, really ideal when you're using the camera for a self protrait. 4. Reception: Actaully, about the same. But they are much improvement over the older pcs handsets. 5. Support: Places like midlet.org, I couldn't access anything with the A500 and I have no problem with the 5300. Not satisfied, check the boards for the cmx screensaver support. 6. Size. Alas, the A500 looked really nice, something I'm gonna miss. But the screen size of the 5300 makes up for it. With support for font size, I can fit even more on the screen with the browser. When comparing the A500 to the 5300, it's a comparison of looks vs practicality. Period. That's why I'm happy with my 5300. |
