Newbie needs help with mm7400 and getting on internet..
Thanks for any help.. I appreciate it.
![]() I have a mm7400. I also have a sony vaio laptop with xp (home) running on it. I purchased a usb data/power cable for connecting the phone to the laptop. I also downloaded what I think (thats what it says) is a driver for the phone to be installed on the laptop. It is a .inf type file. When I plug in the phone to the laptop it senses the device, but says it is an unknown device. The wizerd for installing the driver does not automatically launch. I go to my computer and under device manager, USB ports I find the unknown device. I right click on it and go to properties. Then I try to "update the driver" but it will not work. I do not know if it is a wrong file type or what. But it says it has not found a better driver and it will not update the driver. Buit there is no driver installed for this device. I am confused. I need to install this driver. I know that oce I install the driver sucessfully, that I need to create a dial up in my connections. I will probably have a fe questions there too. But first I need to get the driver to work so xp can recognize the phone/device. Then I will have a few other questions about the plan/service I have and if I really need to buy a dial up plan. I have an isp via sbc/yahoo. I have dsl thru them at home and they give me access to dial up when away from home. I was thinking that I can just use the cell (with my current cell phone plan i have from sprint) to dial via the yahoo isp dial up to get to the net. Is this right? Thanks for reading the long winded post and I hope someone can guide me a lil bit here. THANK YOU!!! ![]() ![]()
