I had to go to the Sprint store to get my hinge replaced on my blue Sanyo 5500 today. So, when I went to the store, the guy told me that they only had the hinge for the 5400 in stock and that it would fit mine since they are basically the same phone. So, I told the guy to tell the tech to go ahead and put the silver hinge on my blue 5500. When I told him to do it, the rep said that he couldn't wait to see what it looked like when the tech got through with it.
Well, I left the phone to get repaired. For those of you that said the different types of insurance Sprint and Lock/line offer aren't worth the money you pay a month, you might want to reconsider those comments. I have the ESRP warranty and what would have been a $55 repair to my phone cost me absolutely nothing!! When I came back to pick up my phone (which is a story within itself), I was impressed myself. I think that I have perhaps the only blue and silver Sanyo 5500 in the country. This little modification will definitely hold me over for maybe another year. I was thinking about getting another phone. Since I got this done, I'm happy with what I have now. For those of you that want to see pictures, I'm not going to hold you much longer. Here is a one of a kind blue and silver Sanyo 5500. What do you think? |

It's not really one of a kind. I have seen other people with such phones. A sales rep at my local Sprint store has it just like this. A guy at readylinkusers.com got his like that when the first silver 5500's started to appear. I would say its rare but not one of a kind. But either way it sure does look nice.

So it's silver on the inside and blue on the outside? I need to see better pics. I've been trying to get my 5500 hindge changed for weeks. Can't find anyone that has it.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the exact same thing happened to my 5500 in May... the charging port failed last month though, so I have a Samsung A880 now... so while you may not be the only one in the country with the two-tone, you might just be the only one in the country with a working one.

There's someone on ebay selling a silver 5500 but the inside of the phone is blue. Looks weird. I like yours better.
I really like how the blue keys look all lit up with the phone. Sweet.

the techs at our store wont replace a part on a phone with a different colored part from the same model..i thought it was a company policy...i guess its the techs discretion
