Well we can't give exact instructions any better than what was in the last thread because the program is in japanese. There are two links to the program in the the other thread as well, it's just that the site is in japanese. But anyhow, the program is http://www1.odn.ne.jp/ysk/ktpic100.lzh u can expand the file with winACE or WinRAR (i don't think winzip will work correctly, at least not in wizard mode). When you get the program open it and click on the wizard with the magic wand, change the radio button to the second option (it has ".pmd" in it) and choose the pmd option from the dropdown menu. Then click what we assume is a browse button beside the text field and find an animated gif on your system. one of the buttons has a ">" character on it, that's what we assume is the next button. Keep clicking it to get through the process, we don't know what many of the other options do because of the whole japanese thing. when the next button is grayed out there will be another text field and a button. type in a file name and click the button and it will save your .pmd file in the same directory as the animated gif. that's the best i got...maybe someone else can elaborate.

OK but one question what is an "animated gift" as you called it. a small movie, or animation done in paint?

i meant animated gif. as in a .gif file. it's a picture file with mutliple frames strung together in an animation. Gifs can be solid state or animated, but for animated screensaver purposes you'll obviously need an animated file. you can search the net and find tons of them whether they're on a site archiving free animations or on another site where it's just being used.

This is an animated gif...
Frog.gif Sorry, forgot to address the paint part of your question. No you can't create animated gif files in paint. You can see programs like Jasc's animation shop, or some online utilities (I believe there is one called gif creator or animation station or something). Both of these types of tools will let you take multiple picture files and will link them together in a gif. A program like animation shop will give you more options converning frames per second, transparency, looping, etc.

Umm...a search engine? You're gonna have to look for something on your own. I mentioned Jasc's Animation Shop. I have Animation Shop 3. It, however, is not a free utility. If you wanted to purchase it you could head over to www.jasc.com or find some other creative way of procuring it that i'm not EVEN suggesting out or respect to our webmaster(s). In any case there are lots of things out there if you take the time to look, and there are lots of animated gifs already made. (if you don't know anything about it, i doubt that you will make anything close to the quality of images already available for free all over the net...). Since animation files are just linked together still images, yes you can link together a whole lot of still images. You'll get ridiculous file sizes of course, but you can do it.

yeah someone who could read japanese would help us figure out the program, but I have a sinking feeling that the compatiblity issues will not be solved by the program (i know that you sanyo users don't HAVE compatiblity issues! lol). Hopefully it knowing all the menus and selections will allow us to increase the FPS and deal with the issues of it not handling transparency and the backgrounds coming through some images and other forms of distortion. It might tell us what size the .gif needs to be in the first place.

just use babel fish to translate the help page. It's not much help though trust me.
I'm not sure if this program lets you convert an animated gif over to a pmd file and let you keep the same framerate. it seems considerably slower, and doesn't seem to work for any phones besides Sanyo phones. here's an example I did: http://pages.sbcglobal.net/johnghazzagh/ryu3.gcd it's a big file, but if you have a Sanyo phone you should be able to save it as a animated screensaver. good luck... |
