For All That Own a Sony PSP!!!

If you are not the type to worry about upgrading your firmware for fear of losing out on homebrew apps/games there is good news. Sony Computer Entertainment of Japan today released the firmware upgrade that many of you have read about. The biggest news with the upgrade is it includes a web browser. Like myself many wondered when the U.S. would see such a firmware update. I can say with 100% certainty the file is fully compatible with the units here in the U.S. My PSP is now running firmware 2.0 with no problems. Just go to the Japanese site here http://dj01.psp.update.playstation.o...e195/EBOOT.PBP and download the file. Then go to the U.S. site on how to do a firmware upgrade on how to get the file on your PSP. http://www.us.playstation.com/psp.as...softwareupdate. As I have no laptop and Sprint Vision is not as fast as my broadband this is a god send.

Well, you would use an existing Wifi network.......because the PSP has Wifi built-in.

No more WipEout PURE browsing for you current PSP owners.

PSP will use any wifi hot spot free or otherwise. If you have a wireless router at home you are all set. I forgot to mention eventhough you get the file from the Japanese site, the completed update features are all clearly in English. I haven't posted in a while and am wondering why there is a videogame only area on a site for Sprint discussion. I put this in the Watercooler and it got moved here?!!? From a quick glance it doesn't look like this area sees much action. That's like making an Automobile only section after all the "What kind of car do you drive" polls and stuff that keep popping up in the Watercooler.

when browsing sites a virtual keyboard pops up. I have surfed with wipeout pure before and it was fun. I can be on my "magical chair" in the bathroom and surf many sites to keep me occupied.

does this new firmware make it possible to check emails like google and yahoo mail? I know with wipeout pure you could not go to secure sites.

i believe it runs java now unlike wipeout or tenchi. so you can get on google.

the best part of 2.0 is the h.264 codec!
