Just played halo for the first time lol

yea soo i just played Halo 1 for the first time.

I DIDNT LIKE IT AT ALL!!!! IT WAS SLOW AND BORING. i especially didnt like the maps they created. they were too open and the weapons werent that interactive. IMO Unreal tournament is a much much better game. much faster with MUCH BETTER GRAPHICS!

What the hell was all that hype about?!?!?!?!

you got to remember this game is really really old, well over 2 years old, so the graphics aren't that good( i still like them) Also, that game was awesome bc u can hook up 4 xboxes and play with 16 people (b4 the times of xbox live) And gameplay is nothing short of awesome. I mean, how is killing people on games not fun ?

maybe you werent playing with the right people, and possible in a level too big..

if you played in blood gulch or that other huge one, they are more for sniping...

this game is good for all people..poeple who love close-range, and long distance weapons...

also, all the hype may have had your expectations too high, IMO its still a great game, and i still play it on occasion...

yea i think my expectations were too high. The unreal game i played was years old too so Halo was behind back then too. Personally, i liked Metroid Prime wayyyy better. i think it was a better game but didnt get the recognition it deserved.

because it was on the gamecube. It's the forgotten console, no one really paid attention to it because of it's lack of features, like online play, and the ability to play dvd's. The only reason I have one is because it cost like 50 dollars at the local game shop

yea thats soo true. Gamecube is a wayy more powerful system than Ps2. and Gamecube is technically able to produce better graphics than the Xbox. but developers havent really been making that many games for the system. Gamecube releases like one game a month while other systems have like 10+. But games are the most important part. I have yet to find one game on Xbox that is fun.

??????? Xbox has plenty of fun games, most of which are also available for the Gamecube. My favorite is of course GTA: San Andreas, but there are others. I don't think the gamecube is more powerful but then again I'm not to sure on the specs, have to go check them out.

Halo was one of the first games of its kind for a console it had a very strong plot, good graphics (come on it was 2001), and awesome (addicting) multiplayer. There was a nice amount of weapons to choose from and vehicles as well. Halo 2 built on that by adding awesome graphics, new weapons, new vehicles, a deeper storyline (it was short though) and what everyone and their mother wanted ONLINE MULTIPLAYER!

Who ever told you that lied. Xbox is the most powerful console of this generation, and the Gamecubes GPU (ATI Flipper) doesn't even come close to the NVidia GPU in the Xbox. Now don't think I don't like GC because it was the second system I owned of this generation I still catch a game of Smash Bros. Melee and play LOZ: Windwaker and Super Mario Sunshine every now and then.

Gamecube is able to produce more texture polygons per second. Gamecube also uses bump mapping than Xboxs Polygons. Thus creating more life-like images instead of jagged edges. Compare two games that came out at the same time. Halo and Luigis mansion. halo had more pointy and jagged edges than anything. Luigis mansion, using bump mapping, created rounder and smoother images.

Xbox just has more sheer horse power. Dont get me wrong, xbox is really powerful as well. the reason people xbox has better graphics is because most of their games have good graphics.

Most people havent SEEN what the Gamecube is capable of. u no wut im sayin. Nintendo lost all their third party supporters so all their remaining games from third party were mostly all ports from other systems. If game makers actually sat down and put some effort into the Gamecube, the graphics would be amazing. Look at Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime. Those games have better graphics than Halo or Halo 2.

I actually didnt like San Andreas. But that probably because i mostly like adventure games.

Gamecube isnt more powerful, but it is capable of creating better images than Xbox.

Xbox polygon performance numbers:
125 million polygons per second (peak)
100 million polygons per second (sustained)
60 million polygons per second (with effects)

GC polygon performance numbers:
33 million polygons per second (peak)
6 million to 12 million polygons per second (with effects)

I have no clue what you mean by Gamecube being able to produce more polygons per second, the facts are in the numbers. Bump mapping is NOT system dependent not sure who told you that either, it's up to developers to choose bump mapping for objects in the game. Bump mapping (not sure if you know this) is an illusion, it shows the illusion of depth on a flat 2D image many games for Xbox use it such as Doom 3 (Gamecube/PS2 can't run that) and Halo 2 as well as Half Life 2 and Splinter Cell: Chaos theory (which looks best on PC but Xbox comes in second).

The reason Halo had "pointed edges and jaggies" is because you are comparing a FPS that has many large expansive levels to a linear "cartoon horror" game. The reason Luigi's Mansion doesn't have many jaggies is because A) The overuse of bump mapping and B) the darkness of the game and use of lighting can greatly mask the jaggies. Whether you want to admit it or not Xbox has more graphical power then Gamecube but they both are better then PS2.

I didnt say that the Gamecube is more powerful. I said that it is capable of just as much or even more than the Xbox. Nintendo has a way of getting better power through other ways necessary than just raw horsepower. My Athlon 3000+ running at 2.167ghz could easily beat a Intel Pentium at 3.2ghz.

Gamecube
More L1 and L2 memory cache
Runs on 64bit Floating Points
Pixel Fill rate 648mpixels with four pipelines = 2592gpixels
Texel Fill rate 648mpixels with four pipelines = 2592gpixels
Textual Read Bandwith 10.4gb/s peak

Xbox
Pixel Fill rate 932mpixels
Texel Fill rate 1820gpixels

Gamecube also gets 3mb of onchip memory. Another 2mb is on the main memory. the chips buffer throughout two parts of the system between three sections. this allows for triple buffering and even greater. Gamecube is able to maintain a higher data rate.
Lower latinency memory is much faster. Each of the three sections has two pipes with a speed of 2.6gb/s so that calculates to 15.6gb/s, much higher than Xboxs 6.4gb/s.

Xbox may have 64mb of memory but a certain part of Gamecube's memory is much faster.

but all of this is upto the developers. What ever the developers are gonna use is what we're gonna get
