so today i saw my friends.. he had need for speed rivals or w/e.. omg the screen was amazing. now i want it so badly that i was thinking of returning my iPod (still under warrenty until march 9) and getting my 300 bucks back to buy the PSP. I will most likely purchase more then one SD card so that i can store all of my music and games and videos and stuff.. but i was wondering, on the included sd card (i dont know how much mb it is sorry) about how many songs does it hold W/O leaving room to save games sotre vids etc.? if i wanted room to store vids and save games? thanks!

it comes with a 32MB ms and that isn't much to hold anything but save files. You could prollyh put about 5 songs on it in 128k quality.
A 1GB stick shouldn't be more than $120, that is the biggest stick you can get for now.

I heard there will be a 2GB stick comin soon.. this true? and also, since the 1GB is 120.. thats like a third of the cost of the PSP.. is it worth it? if i get the PSP.. i know i wont be able to afford the 1GB though. so either way.. it really doesnt matter.. maybe ill keep my iPod as well and ask for money haha.

I think the max it'll ever support is 1GB. Hey, I've got 4 memorysticks back from the days I passed on the iPod and bought a CLIE. What a waste. I always thought Sony was going to increase the size. Nope. Why go with a proprietary format if it's INFERIOR? HELLO!? SONY!?
I can't even use them in this device. Did anyone else notice that the screen on this thing has a crappily low refresh rate? I was playing Ridge Racer on it, and despite super-high FPS, the opposing cars showed noticeable ghosting- everything looked like maroon blobs when the intensity got up. I'm very dissapointed. Neither the NGage nor Zodiac have this problem. It's inexcusable that my cell phone has a better (inch per inch) screen. This thing needs Poly-Silicon / CG Silicon badly! It's great for displaying photos, or viewing the web, or even movies, but gaming? It hurt my eyes. Last edited by bluecoyote; 04-01-2005 at 12:37 AM. |

it's not an SD, it's a memory stick so prices are 4x
2g will be supported and anything else sony/sandisk can come up with songs are 3mb ave so around 160 songs, after the 512mb is formatted to 476mb. blue coyote you have one?

I got one after seeing the huge pile of 'em at K-Mart (bet you nerds who waited outside for 10 hours feel pretty dumb, eh?) , but ended up returning it after being wildly dissapointed with the screen's refresh rate.
It hurt my eyes. Ironically, K-Mart also sells the Zodiac, and damn the Zodiac is a sweet device... if only it had more games. |

I've played Wipeout Pure and the screen looks fantastic, including the refresh rate.

NewOne, if you're not gonna get games, why not get a Zodiac? It's got a larger screen, can play more formats, can surf the interweb, and has 2 SD slots?

Has anyone w/ a psp tried putting ATRAC3's(plus) on the card yet. These are about 1/4-1/5 smaller than mp3s and will definitly take the place of MP3's on my card. On a 700 mb CD-R i get about 125 mp3s but w/ atrac3pkus i can fit close to 500!!!!AMAZING!!! Last edited by newone757; 04-01-2005 at 01:15 PM. |

The PSP is far from an iPod (or any other HD mp3 player, for that matter) replacement music-wise, but I would definitely sacrifice it for the PSP if I had just purchased one and needed the money.

Ipods are great but i will never need that much storage. As i would put new songs up there the old ones would just sit there wasting gigs, so the psp is a perfect companion for me. But now where to get $250?? plus money for a 1 gig stick(atleast $120) is beyond me. But when it happens it will be worth it!!!

I should be getting NFSU: Rivals and Twisted Metal: Head On in the mail, today......GameFly. The regular Memory Sticks go up to 4GB.......of course, it costs wayyy too much now ( $1k). (Plus, it's not a DUO.....so no PSPing). Best price I seen was a 512MB Pro DUO for $62.99 shipped from Amazon. I'm still holding off, though. At least my Clie handles MS Pro......so, all I need is the DUO adapter, and I can just switch between it and the PSP!
