The time is finally upon us. Am I the only one that's been anticipating this for years since it was first rumored?

What's everybody think? Who's buying one?

I haven't had a new gaming system since the N64

I was planning to get an Xbox (yeah, I know Xbox2 and PS3 are coming)....use it for a while, then put Linux on it.

But......should I just wait for a PSP? Maybe I'll just save up... I dunno! But, I want to play games again! WAahhhh.

And I already use Memory Stick with my Clie (and even a camera). Give me advice, pleaseee

Unless you have a Memory Stick Duo you won't be able to use it. However, I read somewhere that the Duos have converters to make them fit in the old Memory Stick slots, so that a bonus for me.

I'm hesitant to go rush out and buy this - I've already seen pre released "designer" cases in different colors, etc., that look sweet.

Now.....this may sound stupid....but I haven't heard it anywheres......can you hook it up to a TV? I shall take a look.........but, if you can.....I am definitley SOLD.

No you can't. As with any other portable. I thought about this the other day myself. would be really great. I think there are just too few pixels to support TV out.

I still think the greatest portable is the Sega Nomad, and I wish I hadn't sold mine, I'm still looking for one to buy. That being said, I like the design on the Nintendo DS over the Advance SP, but touching the screen? Please. And YES, I've used it, it's fun for a little bit, but it's still "for kids" in my opinion. Plus, they finally got one at a local Target, and within a week the center of the screen wouldn' recognize touches 9/10th of the time. And YES, I know it basically gets abused 24/7 at places like that, but what does that say about when I want to play it 20 years down the road? My Master System(s) and NES(s) still work fine...

I hope the PSP blows away the DS, but I can't see it doing so. I just hate what Nintendo has stayed.

As in "Still Is", instead of "Just Become". I still love Mario and Legend of Zelda! But the new games == puke.

I figured that. Ahh well.......there is plenty of other connectivity that makes me want it.

I wish I could preorder it on Amazon.......I guess I will just have to wait....

And the Nomad......I remember that thing! Plays Sega Genesis games. Never tried it, though.

I do have a Nintendo Virtual Boy, though.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if someone developed some sort of output module. It has a mini USB port, so almost anything is possible. The ported video might be dog slow though.

What exactly does the Nintendo DS do besides playing games? Depending on sales, Sony just might establish a whole new movie format with these UMD discs as one or two production companies/distributors are already vowing to offer movies for the PSP.

If it's done right, this could be the biggest portable multimedia device since the iPod. I really don't see the DS f*cking with the PSP.

Well, I haven't looked into it, but with the DS you can wirelessly connect to other users somehow and play against them. I'm assuming this functionality is included with the PSP, though. Plus the DS is backwards compatible with ALL previous Game Boy games, as far as I'm aware. I had heard that the PSP was supposed to somehow enable people to rip their old playstation games to the memory card to be able to play them, but that could be complete speculation. Sounds like somehow would have had to come up with a good encoding scheme before Sony would allow that.
