Exclamation PPC 6601 Endless Beep during call

I just got my PPC-6601 phone and I am encountering the same problem I've seen posted here by quite a few people. After talking on the phone for a given period of time, there is an endless beep that forces you to have to end the call since you can no longer hear the other party. Has anyone found the solution for this? The sprint support team was unable to assist with it.

Thanks

Just keep reporting it and eventually Sprint and/or Audiovox will have to look into it.

I just encountered this problem for the first time today. It seems pretty random. Some of my calls lasting over 10 min have not had the problem, but my last call of 5 min received this high pitched sound.

We have 3 of them in use, and they all experience this problem. It happened to me last night while I was talking with my Sprint rep. lol

Been using the phone for over a month and no problems. Sounds like a defect in certain phones and I would probably return the beeping one for another if I were you.

6601 Beep

Sprint knows about this issue and it will be addressed with a new software release. No ETA.

Yes, and I heard Audiovox/UTStarcom are aware of the complaints as well, but no date committment for a patch.

I've seen it twice today, once at the begiining of a call, which made me think I accidentally dialed a fax machine. The other was in mid call, about 20 minutes later. I think my phone was trying to do an IOTA when this happended because I started one last night and disconnected before it completed.

I've read that if you just kill the data side of the phone completely that it will lessen the frequency of the beeping bug. Not very practical for a modern PDA phone, but better than being stuck with a brick in your pocket.

Hey, Bjork...

Just curious... I have read many posts of yours talking about how the 650 now has wi-fi ability with the new hacks, and yet in none of those posts do you mention how unpractical it is, especially for a 'modern PDA phone'...

Considering the hoops you must jump through to get wi-fi working on the 650, don't you think that it is at least as deserving of the same editorial you offer on the 6601's beep issue...

I think this is a clear example of why, even though you've had both phones, it is the consideration of many that you unfairly speak about only the 'best' of the 650 and the 'worst' of the 6601, which is misleading to those who want a fair opinion.

Just my thoughts,

Ben

Bjork is on a mission...what mission I have no idea..

The PPC6601 is WiFi capable. Currently the SanDisk WiFi card is reported to cause problems, but the socket WiFi card is quite successful

As for T650 WiFi, it can only work (somewhat) with Palm's own WiFi card and hacks obtained from TreoCentral, which is not supported by PalmOne, who will void your warranty if you turn in a phone with an after market ROM patch.

When did I say that the WiFi on the 650 was BETTER or EASIER than the WiFi on the 6601? I didn't because it isn't. The 650 does a number of things better than the 6601 and visa versa. WiFi support is one of the 6601's advantages.

Anyone who doesn't know enough to flash their 650 back with the original ROM when going to Sprint deserves what they get. That's just plain dumb considering how easy it is.

Will Audiovox void the warranty on the 6601's that have installed the BT hacks? I'd bet not.

My point wasn't that wifi is easier on one or the other. My point was that you are willing to overlook large shortcomings on the 650, whilst exaggerating even minor flaws on the 6601.

That's what makes your comments seems overly 'one-sided'. Nothing to do with wifi specifically, just to do with your commenting style in general.

Just my opinion,

Ben

But I am saying that WiFi is easier on the 6601. The Treo 650 needs a hard reset in between using Vision and using WiFi which doesn't seem very handy. Someone claims to have found a way around it, but I'm not sure if it's been worked out.

I have tried to favor the Treo in my posts because Hobbes and others are so blindly brand-loyal to the Audiovox. The number of times that people around here have "forgotten" to list some of the 650's features and some of the 6601's flaws is crazy. If each device was 100% fixed by their companies, I'd go back to the 6600 for my needs. I'd also be buying the program that lets you do Ringer ID because I like that feature.

Now I understand. I won't be bothering you again about your Audiovox posts.
Have a nice day.

Thank you. Just trying my best to keep a level playing field around here with all of the slanted Audiovox-zealots.
