6601 reception is FANTASTIC

My t608 and other phones never worked quite well in my office space, but the 6601 is working fine. When I use the 6601 as a modem, it loads pages on my Ipaq 4700 pretty quickly. Yes, the bluetooth connection does break, as others have reported. It seems to happen a lot less frequently when i use the Winmodem software on the pocket pc. I'm still trying to decide if this thing is worth it for me. Is it worth more than just getting the new LG Bluetooth to replace my t608? I shall try and figure this out.

I'm curious about why you are loading pages on your 4700 rather than just viewing them on the 6601. It seems like the extra ram on the 6601 would make it a better choice for browsing. I am considering replacing my ipaq 2215 with a 6601, so would be interested in your comments on how PIE works on the 6601.

I replaced my ipaq 2215 with the 6601, and the PIE works much better then on the 2215. Mostly, this is due to improvements in WM2003 second edition. It renders websites on the internet down to one column correctly, and can flip orientation. (Though I never do this personally).

But... the speed hasn't been a problem at all. Lots more room, storage.. reads better then the 2215. (Some have said the screen on the 6601 isn't as good as some other pda's... personally I can't tell the difference from the ipaq. They're both 320x200 resolution screens.)

*shrug* No problems what so ever there. The only thing I kinda miss, is ironically the crappy side rubber grips on the ipaq.

Why would I rather view web pages on the 4700? Have you seen a web page in VGA mode (with the vga hack to give it true vga) on the 4700? It is incredible! The fonts are small, but the pictures are crystal clear....it is like looking at God!

I had a Pocket Loox 720 which had a VGA resolution, incredible unit, IMO the best of the VGA units. But I just ebayed it because I did not want to have 2 devices, and also because the VGA is very overhyped, at least the stupid way MS implemented it. You either are in enhanced QVGA, which is beautiful, or you are in full VGA with a hack, which is pretty unreadable.

In regards to reception the PPC6601 is fabulous, I can get reception in areas that I pretty much gave up hope on with other phones. The only better reception I have ever gotten was with my T608, which had the best reception of any phone IMO.

Is the 6601 made by HTC like the new Treos are?

anybody have good recommendations for a bluetooth headset? I've been using the jabra bt200...it is good when the phone is stationary...but when the phone is moving around in my hands, the reception sucks.

Yes, it is. "Harrier" is HTC's code name for the 6601/6600.

Im very happy with my SE HBH-65 headset, except I have a convertable and the wind really messes with outgoing voice. I have heard Logitech has a new unit that has some kind of wind resistance technology.
