How to get PPC6601 and avoid extra vision charge

I currently have a Sanyo 8200 which I got back when Vision first came out. I am still on the $10 month unlimited Vision plan.
I am wanting to upgrade to a PPC6601, and have read quite a few times about people not getting hit with the extra vision charge of $15/month.
Can anyone explain how to accomplish this?
I'm sure others would like to know as well.
Thanks in advance.
Ray

If the rep is doing the their job correctly then you can't avoid it. But if you get a rep that doesn't care or doesn't notice then you're golden

just call and say you bought a new phone and you want to switch. it worked when i went from the 5300 to the G1000. I think the only people that need to worry are the one's opening a new line.

oh, and vision came out way before the 8200 came out.

"just call and say you bought a new phone and you want to switch."

But in order to get the 18 month/$150 credit, I would have to activate it when I purchased it correct?
Is there anyway to get the $150 credit and still avoid the extra fees?

I don't think there is a way to avoid it as stated - it's all just luck. If you get a rep that has other things on their mind you'll luck out.

It looks like the fee is associated with the Vision Professional Pack. What if you remain with the Vision pictures pack?

Spoke with tech support level 2 last week, he said you can use the pictures pack for 6600. I told him that I didn't need the professional pack because I have no use for it. If you do need the business connect, you will have to get the professional pack and pay the additional $15

Is this a reason to Consider the Treo 650?

Is the extra Vision charge for the PPC devices another reason to consider only the Treo 650?

I assumed the logic for the extra charges for the Microsoft based devices was they would more fully utilize the Sprint Vision network. If true, the logic is flawed as the Treo devices can utilize the network equally well (i.e. stream audio, email, etc.), but there are no extra cherges for these devices.

Any other logic out there?

he (tech support 2) never really gave me a good reason for the extra $15. i guess they figured that if you can afford a $650 phone, you wouldn't mind the extra $15

it's all politics... some big wig is scratching some other big wigs back cause I know a treo with correct apps can run just as much bandwidth as a ppc

The logic I've heard is that a PocketPC is specifically designed to send and receive emails with large Word and Excel attachments. I suspect that with the appropriate application, a Palm could do the same, but I guess Sprint is assuming that many/most customers will simply use the applications built into the device.
