Lightbulb Malfunctioning phones, and trading up to new phones on the horizon...

Here is a question. I've got a Hitachi G-1000 and while I love what it does, it's become apparent to me that I have not had the best of luck with them. All the units I have received have been faulty or have had issues crop up later on in its lifetime. I got my first G-1000 in April, upgrading from a Sanyo 5300 (I shouldn't say upgrade, because I had to pay full price) and had my phone spontaneously fail. The next trade up I got was a pitiful refurb with scratches on the case and screen. Got that switched with a brand new one right away. So my next phone was ok for a little while, but soon started exhibiting a problem every day it would reset itself hard, erasing all the data. I got that swapped with the one that I have been using to this day, and have noticed that now this phone is ready to go too. See, I will find the phone locked up turned on, heating up and draining all the battery, or once and a while it just decides to randomly reset itself. Other times I find it has just completely powered down and locked, to the point that only removing the battery gets it back. By that time the data is gone. So you see, I can't really use this phone to it's fullest, and I have a feeling that this phone series is going to continue to have issues if I get another replacement of the same brand.

If you are still with me, here is my question. I've been told that if I have had continuous problems with this series and have had at least two replacements, I am eligible for a trade to a different similar product. Is this true?

I've had my sights set on the PPC-6001 for some time, and know its right around the corner. If I can bear with my pains until this comes out, do you think I could get a store to transfer me over to one of those? It would be worth it for me to do so, because I feel the G-1000 is a dead end, with the amount of ram it has, and its os neglected.

What are my chances, and what would the protocol be?
