Which gaming system should I get?

What is the best gaming system out there with regard to game availability, price, graphics, etc?

I think I'm going to treat myself to one this Xmas, but I don't want to buy another "gadget" that sits around and collects dust. I've played GameCube--Tiger Woods 2004. Lots of fun. But this time I want boxing, football, and maybe a first person shooter or flying game. Dunno yet.

What do you guys have? What do you advise? Where's the best deal?

I'm going to stay out of this thread of opinion. Unfortunately my comments would be considered biased since I have every console from Nintendo 8-bit onwards except for the Neo Geo and TurboGraphx.

If you want GTA: San Andreas, gotta go with the PS2. Other then that, Xbox and PS2 are pretty much equal.

*sigh* I miss my Turbo Express

Well being a huge Playstation fan for quite some time based on games and such I would go for that.

However I myself am trying to decide the same thing and am leaning towards the Xbox.

Lately there have only been a few PS2 specific games out that I want that aren't out for the xbox.

X-Box is bulky huge, machine with not many great games....

PS Two is the size of a hardback book, and has an excellent selection of games...

I'm sick of hearing the word device. It's almost as bad as hearing the word "swag"! It's not a device! It's A FRICKING PHONE, PEOPLE!

Oh come on now don't even try that. The origonal PS2 is damn near the same height as the Xbox. as far as games the Xbox does too.. Don't take this as a pro Xbox post... I am still a huge fan of the PS2 as my previous post in this thread.

I have the ps2 now and my 3 month old 2005 locked up the other day. I talked to a few managers at a video game store and they told me the ps2 is on it's 5 or 6 desing change, not sure if that's true. So I guess the Xbox might be made a little better. I'll probally get the Xbox after I get the LG 535 when it comes out.

Ok so random semi off topc comment but wich european countries use NTSC as opposed to PAL. Been looking at a few schools and thinking about moving to London or Sweden to finish my degree so I'm curious as far as my electronics. I haven't been up to date on the info so I thought I'd ask here.

EDIT. ok so I found this link and I assume it's semi current but if anyone has any other info it's greatly appreciated.
