Equipment replacement gone on my account???

So I called up customer service because I noticed insurance was missing on my last invoice and they tell me that if I've had a phone replaced several times that they remove my insurance. When I told them that they didn't have my consent to do so, they said that equipment replacement reserves the right to do this. ***??? This is so stupid, and customer service couldn't readd the insurance, instead they gave me a number which I'm gonna try right now for equipment replacement.

Just though people should beware if this is really true and they drop your insurance if you're unfortunate enough to have had ot switch your phone due to problems.

It states in the TOS of the insurance that you can only have like 2 claims a year and if you do have 2 claims in a year they remove it until the next year or something similar...

the purpose of this is to prevent fraud and control costs. now i'm not implying, merlyn that you would commit such fraud but there have to be limits to these things or else we will all pay $20 a month for insurance instead of $5.

Lots of insurance companies will cancel your insurance if you file a certain number of claims. This is expected and SOP.

This is clearly state in the TOS with Lockline. You are only allowed 2 replacements in a 12 month period. After the second, they will cancel your insurance until 12 months from the first claim. As others have stated, there is nothing unusual about this in the insurance world.

I'm sure, but I've never filed a claim with lockline. The ONLY replacements I've gotten have been through sprint for warranty issues. Before today, I've never even called the lockline number. I'm assuming that it's not in the TOS to just take it away because they feel like it. I've paid $4 for each of my two lines for a year almost, and if, today, my phone was stolen, lockline wouldn't help me one bit due to some stupid issue with it being erased off my account with sprint.

Just checked my account, equipment replacement was removed also. No clms to lockline ever. Did have a warranty replacement @ sprint store about two months ago. hmmmmmm. Time to call sprint, when I get time. I never planned on using the insurance anyway, but Sprint should have at least notified me that it was removed.

FYI - Everything that has been said about having 2 claims in a year is true about Lockline...

However, if you havent made claims, and you notice you dont see ERP on your account; one reason could be that, after 10/1, everyone with ERP was migrated to TEP (Total Equipment Protection), so you may still have it, its just named differently now.

That may be, but I don't have a charge for anything now. I would At least expect to see the $5.00 charge.

Yeah, I don't have a charge at all now. I called up sprint a second time and got a guy who sounded like he knew his *****. He re-added it to my phones at $4 per line per month, apologized citing he has no idea why they would do that, excellent service from him.

Is there any difference between total equipment replacement and the old one?

The only difference I see is that it costs more per month and the deductable is higher ($35 -> $50)...and that's all I have gotten out of the info I've seen.

I just tried reading about the Enhanced Warranty Program on Sprint's site...okay, I'm not dumb, but, huh?

Okay, so what do I have to pay to have the TEP now? Damn, I shoulda kept that thing Lockline sent me. I only skimmed it...so much for me practicing what I preach.

Alright, I'm going to have to do some additional reading now since it seems that the insurance is not on my account -- at least not when I just checked online. Grr.

Gotta call CS, I suppose.
