I didn't take any pics because I only had my Sprint vm4500 to take them with. I wouldn't have been able to show much more than is already out there.

From what we could tell the bluetooth wouldn't let us configure for a laptop to use the Vision connection.

A couple of notes:
  • The keyboard is nicely spaced
  • the device itself is nicely weighted when you "slide" it.
  • browsing was very fast compared to my iPAQ 2215 and CF2031 card
  • the reps suggested that you will be able to buy it through business channels starting next week (note **should!)
  • the headphone jack was the size of a earbud and not normal headphones. maybe have to purchase an adapter like the Treo??
  • It does have Windows Mobile 2003 second edition - I could put the screen in landscape.
  • they didn't have much to say about battery life

I wasn't able to play with the business connection software. When I tried to download it I got a "coming soon" screen.

I hope to be getting one in the next week or two (along with the rest of you!) that I would get to further test. It's looking like the BT tethering is disabled just like the Treo 650 though

I really like the device, it is a bit bigger than the Treo, I still debate if I would use it as my primary device just because I don't know that I want to always carry something that big.

Not anymore. Sprint has reportedly reversed it's decision to disable BT.

hacking it may have been a bettere choice. They may be enabling the phones for dial up but this might require a higher vision charge for these phones. I guess we'll see.

Too bad the 6601 is so BIG. Looks like an amazing gadget, but I imagine it is just too large to use as a cell phone...

Everyone is consistently comparing this phone to a cell phone, think of it as a swiss army knife I mean really how small can we make it and still have usable functionality. Personally when I get this device it's going to be a cell phone, a portable computer, an mp3 player, a gps unit, portable tv, portable radio, organizer etc etc etc. If they made it too small it would be worthless for some things and better at others but would you really want to have to carry around the alternative? As far as size and cell phone - nothing a wireless headset isnt going to fix... By the way, anyone know if the BT800 (I think is the name and shown at CTIA) is the only unit with a caller id right in the earpiece???

That's a valid point. I've been carrying a Treo 600 for 2 months and it's a great phone with a pda that works well. I just want all of the cool stuff that a PPC offers in the Treo form. I will probably still go with the 6600, I just wish it was a tad smaller.

Kash when you held it up to your face how did it feel - was it comfortable as a cell phone (not comparing it to a treo)?

Thats exactly what i was thinking. B/c how are they going to let you have unlimited Vision w/o you paying more. When they see how much Vision all the Treo users are using they will know its being used as modem and we all know for some reason Sprint doesn't like that.
I just wonder how are they going to take care of the issue of charging you more.
