Question about business accounts...

How does sprint determine who is/is not a business for the purposes of their cell phone account? I do a lot of independent consulting work / computer repair / etc and I work for myself in that realm but I also have a regular job working for someone else. I use schedule C to report income/loss, but I don't have an EIN (tax ID #).

Would I be considered a business in Sprint's mind? And what would it gain me? Current plan is 750AT retention plan with NW@8 and a 5% discount. My goal would probably be to add one or two more lines, which is not possible with my current account status. Would the business customer service rely on the same criteria? How does this work?

You'd need to call the business accounts department, and the discount is pretty much determined by the number of lines that any given company has active with SPCS. If you note in the business discounts list I have done up, that someone like Boeing or Microsoft has a larger discount than say Abercrombie, because obviously... MS or Boeing has MANY more employees and thus more active phones. As for your business... the business services people will be able to help you out setting up a bus. account, but dont expect any grand discount if you'll only have 3 phones.

They would do a 'credit' risk assessment either based on your SSN if you're a small personal business or via a Federal Tax ID.

that's the thing... same SSN, so would that put me in the same credit class on the business side or would they have more flexibility to offer me additional lines?

Depends on term commitment, # of lines involved, revenue potential, etc.

Depending on the state you live in Tax IDs are usually free or around $15.
