I have the 4 screws from the 4 corners of the main LCD out and separated the plastic halves using a credit card. But I am not sure how to the the two ends off of the metal hinge.
Does anyone know how to do this? |

I too have a Sanyo 8200 that I cracked the outside lcd screen cover on. I bought a new faceplate on ebay, but I haven't received it yet. I am also looking for instructions on how to remove this faceplate. Did you figure it out yet? Also, how did you get to the four screws? Are they under the little rubber pads at the top of the inside display, and under some stickers on the bottom of the inside display?

I think there are screws underneath the silver caps on the hinges.

Groenjester - yes, you needto remove the 2 stickers on the bottom and the two rubber pads on the top.
Jaggrey - I had removed the silver caps, but all I can see is a round metal bar that does not rotate when the phone is opened. Im still looking to find out how to get the this faceplate off. |

The 8200 does not have screws under the silver cap, that cap is the hing/spring assembly. Give me a day or two and I'll post an instructional with pictures on how to remove the front faceplate on an 8200. If you haven't heard from me in a few days email me and remind me.

I just bought a Torx 6 T6 screwdriver and a new faceplate for 5300 on Ebay. The T6 is what you need, it has the three points on it. I am not sure about the 8200, but the 5300 faceplate was very easy to replace. I popped out the two rubber pads, and the two plastic pieces. I unscrewed all four screws. Again, not sure how the 8200 is, but I was able to run my fingernail along the seam of the faceplate and that unfastened the faceplate. The rest is just putting the other faceplate on and screwing it in. Hope this helps. |

The 8200 has four screws that hold it into place. Once you get the tool remove the four screws and use a credit card or finger nail to pry the case open(just use something that is not going to damage the case) Start from the bottom and slowly work your way up on both sides of the phone and the case should separate. Their are not hinges or anything tricky on this model of phone. Just be careful with the instrument you use to separte the casing as not to damage the outside of the phone casing.
The tool you need is a tri wing screwdriver. I think it can be also found at some gaming stores as a gameboy adavanced screw driver. You do not have to mess with the hinge. The top casing is separate from the hinge assembly. Remember all four screws are hidden and you need to remove the plastic covers to get access to the screws. All four access points are able to be seen when the phone is open. Last edited by Fubar101; 10-08-2004 at 11:29 PM. |

okay once again im here to save the day with taking this great phone apart.
Tools needed: Tri wing screwdriver (I have the one listed above so i know it works) Credit card (thanks fubar for this idea works great!) Pin or Exacto knife (Prefer Exacto Knife) Dentist Like Pick at a 45 degree angle Okay, Step One Take Pin and pop each sticky pad of the face plate up. **Careful these are soft plastic they scar easily and the bottom of them is a silver sticker so any rips in that will show up when put back on** Step Two Take Triwing screwdriver and unscrew 4 corners. Keep screws and sticky pads in a safe place. Ive ended up with those sticky pads on my shirt and walked around all day without noticing. Step Three Use pin in corner of bottom LCD to lift up the edge slightly. *note not to apply great amount of pressure just slide the pin in a little* Slide credit card all the way around until edges are fully seperated and peal back. Step Four Look directly in the middle of the phone under the speaker in the tube area where the phone bends. There is a piece that will completly come off the phone its very noticeable. *right under the right side of the speaker if phone is facing u inside of the phone!* Step Five Unscrew the 4 back screws. *two under battery one openly exposed and one above rubber circle under the sticky pad* slowly with credit card peeling these two edges apart. *note this gets trickier with the buttons on the side be careful!* Step Six Now here comes the tricky part. To remove the front faceplate from the phone u need to move out the pins that hold the phone together. Find a tool that has a 90 degree angle that you can use to push on and not bend. *I haven't found a practical tool yet to name* Place point of tool between the two white plastic flaps in the tube part of the phone. Push until metal piece comes flying out. *If having problems try bending one of the plastic flaps a little with something and then pushing it out.* Once you get those two hinges out the whole phone is basically apart. If you can't figure it out from there u shouldn't have taken the whole phone apart anyway haha. but any other questions or tips are welcome to this tutorial! P.S. Def. post what you used to remove hinges. I use a tool that is sort of what a dentist uses when he picks at ur teeth. its a a 45 degree angle which is perfect for this job. If ya'll want pics I can do that as well just ask. *******NEVER FORCE ANYTHING APART****** Forcing two pieces of bendable plastic apart causes a high amount of stress on them and will end up breaking or cracking something on the phone. everything I listed here comes apart relatively easy with light pressure. Except the hinges may take a little work to get out. Have fun everyone |
