A question regarding my phone bill.

Hi. Here is a breakdown of my phone bill. I have a family plan with 2 phones and 2 lines.

Phone one:
PCS Free & Clear Area-Wide: $45.00
Equipment Replacement Program Premium: $4.00
PCS Vision Pictures Pack: $15

Phone two:
Area-Wide PCS Add-A-Phone Plan: $20

Total Taxes: $15.00 (Estimate)
Total Bill: $99

My question is regarding the "PCS Vision Pictures Pack." What is it exactly? I think its being able to upload pictures to the Sprint website, but I don't really want that feature. What if I just want Vision? I just want to be able to use the web, not upload pictures and stuff. Would there be a way to get rid of the $15 charge and still use the Vision service? I just want to lower my phone bill, I expected to pay $70 a month, not $100 a month.

And about the equipment replacement program, how does it work? Lets say I lose my phone, or break it. Will they give me a new one free of charge?

to answer you 1st question is the pic pack is if you take a lot pic with your phone and pic mail to other alot, if you do none of this then get the vision premium pck for 15$ but the thing is that you get a 10$ credit a month for vision usage and with the pic pack you only get 5$ so with the 10$ credit its like you only pay 5$ really, if you dont use vision heavly, then get rid of it all together, you can still use vision on your phone, but sprint will charge a 1 center per kb, which is 5 mins for 60cents.

2nd question/ the equipment replacement program is four$ a month, for if loose your phone, break, basically anything but spill water into it(does not cover water damage) and you have to pay a 36$ dollar deductable when the phone comes in, imo its not worth i say get you i cheap old sanyo or nokia off ebay and use that as a back up, b/c when you break your phone, you need one quick, especially if you are like me and are going w/o a landline, and dont wait 6 week for the replacement to come in.

1. You can pay $.01/kb or $15/month to use vision ... there are 3 different packs that give you different features/download credits ... but they are all the same price unless you want to pay per kb ... you should of recieved two months free too

It does accidental water damage ... if you purchased it before Oct. 1 ... it will be $4/month and a $35 deductible until Jan 01, '05 ... then it will increase to $5/month and a $50 deductible

Thanks you guys. That does clear things up a bit for me. I think I might just get rid of Vision altogether, because I don't use it that much really.

I'm still not sure I understand what "$35 deductible" is supposed to mean.

I just might call Sprint today, thanks again.

It is phone insurance. Just like your car insurance, you have a deductable if you get in a wreck and need it fixed. SPCS charges a deductable if you need to replace your phone. This is reasonable. Cingular charges $10 a month for insurance and a $50 deductable. YEA SPRINT!

Means u pay $35 (soon to be $50) and they send you a replacement phone...new or refurbished. If you have a high end phone, it is worth it. If you have a phone you can buy on ebay for less than $50, not so worth it.

Total Equipment Replacement Program (TERP)

this is what I was told about the new insurance program . . .

Effective October 1, 2004
New Enhanced Warranty Program (EWP)
Covers mechanical and electrical failure and normal wear and tear.
Replacements will be subject to a $10 processing fee.
Changes to the Equipment Replacement Program (ERP)
 Deductible increasing to $50.
New Total Equipment Protection (TEP) Program – value added package
Includes ERP and EWP for $5 per month.

Effective October 1, 2004
ERP Deductibles
 The ERP deductible for lost,
stolen, water, or accidental
damage claims increases to $50
(was $35).
 Continue to refer all ERP
replacements to lock\line at
800-584-3666

A $10 processing fee applies to all
EWP replacements—only those
replacements not covered by the
manufacturer’s warranty.
If equipment failure is covered by
the manufacturer’s warranty,
complete a warranty exchange at no
cost to the customer.
 Refer all EWP replacement requests
to lock\line at 800-584-3666.

ERP Fulfillment
 ERP replacements—lost, stolen,
accidental damage—continue
handled by lock\line.
 Replacements are ordered by
lock\line and shipped to the
customer by Sprint
 You should refer customer to
lock\line at 800-584-3666.

TEP Program Abuse
Coaching a customer on how to get around policy terms and conditions to
fulfill a replacement.
Adding TEP to a customer’s subscription to help the customer replace an
already damaged phone.
Adding TEP to a customer's subscription to help upgrade to new equipment.
Adding TEP to a customer’s subscription at anytime after phone activation.
This customer request should be directed to lock\line for correct handling
according to policy terms.
Aiding or assisting an ineligible customer to enroll in the program.
Committing any one of the following actions can result in disciplinary
action up to and including termination and may constitute insurance fraud.
Note—any person who knowingly and with intent to injure, defraud, or deceive any insurer files a
statement of claim or an application containing any false, incomplete, or misleading information is

Not that this has ANYTHING to do with the original post; but once you cancel you will still be able to access the web; however you will be charged per kilobyte instead of $15 for unlimited. It adds up quickly.

If you cancel vision and you receive texts, you will be charged .10 cents per msg, same for outgoing.

If you keep vision past your 2 month trial, you will have 100 text msgs included, each msg sent or received above that will be .10 cents.

You can add unl sms for $10 without a vision package, or $5 with a vision package.

ok im gonna be canceling vision, i have unlimited text messaging... question is

i have a site where i create my own ringtones and send them to my phone and its a link i go to, to download it. im not gonna get charged per kilobyte right because the site is free... (i think u only get charged per kilobyte when u download ringtones from the sprint site on ur phone)

am i wrong?

Ur wrong. You get charged per kilobyte for any data transfer. Any information sent, even if it's free from a non-sprint site, is a data transfer.

And, if you cancel Vision, unl text will be $10 a month. Add per kilobyte charges on top of the $10 for unl text and you might as well keep the $15 vision, with $5 for unl text.
