Why sprint Why?

My friend had a Sanyo SCP8100 that she did not like. She is eligible to upgrade in December but went to a Sprint store to see about upgrading her early. She was going to give me the Sanyo so I could quit using the nokia i despise. Anyway, she went in and they said she could upgrade today, IF she sells them back the Sanyo! What the hell is up with that? Sprint just dicked me out of a camera phone. Is this a common practice or was the store rep just an ******* that wanted the phone himself and therefore went above what he is allowed to do so HE could have the phone? Your comments are appreciated.

Unfortunately I have a 3588i. That image was the closest I could find. I have bid on some on ebay but they always go through the roof, especially when I was looking at it being *free*.

I'm going to the store to find out what was done with the phone and to try to buy it from them. If they have no idea what I am talking about someone is getting fired.

Hate to break it to you, but you won't be getting anyone fired. It's a new policy - he was just doing his job. They're buying back certain handsets so that they can refurbish them for Lockline replacements.

So, you are going to have someone fired for doing their job?

Also, Sprint did not screw you over, your friend did.

Does anybody know how much are they giving for handsets, like I have my 8100 and I'm up for the 18 months rebate program in November. I'm looking to either get a Treo 600 or if the price will be right, the new Treo 650

Yes they are buying back handsets (I just sold back mine) but it's not mandatory. It's optional, I don't know why that Rep told you you had to sell it back.

The SprintPCS website now has a link and lists all the phones they buy back and how much they will credit your account for when you do so.

Where is this link, this is the first I have heard of it. I doubt my store is participating in this because we are not Sprint owned...but it would be nice info to have.

The rep didn't say it was mandatory to sell your phone back in general - he said they'd let the OP's friend upgrade early IF she would sell her phone back.

First of all QUIT WHINING!!! Sprint did nothing wrong. As stated they have a buy back program now. Sounds to me like you are just a whiny baby who didnt get what he wanted, so hes crying about it. Grow up little kid.
