I'm on the old $10 unlimited plan which includes free picturmail but now I'm being charged $5 extra for video mail. I was prompted to add this to my account last month and decided to do so after I read some reports about others on this site getting it free after they accepted the charge. I figured my odds were also pretty good. But apparently not.

Im in the same boat as of today. Did you try calling in and ask if they could take off the charge or give you 5.00 credit to off set it?

Unlike you I decided to add it to my bill last month but I haven't seen the charges yet. Which got me to thinking when I read your post the reason so many people are claiming that they haven't been charged for it after having agreed to have it put on their acc't is because Sprint is giving it to us for free for the first 2 months just like when you sign up for vision and after the 2 months are done they start charging that could be the only reason.

Well they didn't give it to me free for two months. Only one month.

I got a notice on my phone that I needed to sign up for this...I clicked thru to the part where it said I needed to add $5 a month. I called a rep, and they "assured" me that this was just a formality, and I would NOT be charged. This made sense, I said, cause I have had it as part of my plan since I got the phone - about 5 or 6 months maybe.

Well..a few months pass...and there it is on my bill. $5 for video mail. I of course, call up, raise a stink. Like it always seems to happen to me, that I tell them what I was told, and then I am told that it is not the case at all, and that I am mistaken. I love that feeling. It ends up they had charged me for TWO months - the previous I did not see (too busy to look at the line charges, I just paid the bill.) They had tried to tell me that they could not issue me a credit for the first month, since I used the service, and had paid for it once. Which is true...but I could really care less, i think I used it maybe twice in 3 months.

So it took a while...to get $10 taken off my bill. You would have thought I was asking for $100.

Well, I just agreed to the $5 charge when I was trying to upload a video. I have Multimedia Vision which says that video mail is included. The facts are on my side, and I've had good luck with getting the CSR's to fix mistakes. I'll post yay or nay if I find anything on my bill.

Well I just talked to Sprint regarding the $5 video mail charge and they told me it's never been included in the $10 unlimited plan like picturemail is and that there's no way they can give it to me free. So I cancelled it.

I just checked my bill... nothing "yet". Although, I accepted the 5 buck charge way back in July... or it could have been in June... and now its october and I still don't have the increment. Maybe if we don't brag about "certain stuff" in this forum, "certain loyal sprint employees" won't go back and tell their higher officials...so we won't get bumbed out of "backdoor" services...

Hmm..now there's a thought.

I accepted the $5 charge in late August I think. So maybe there's a glitch in the system that they figured out and fixed sometime in July or August??

Well I checked with a friend who works for Sprint and he assured me that video mail is not included free in the old $10/mo unlimited plan and never has been. Anyone who might still be getting it free is simply an error or a computer glitch.
