Today I decided to call future dial and ask them about their snap media software. The sales person was not very helpful at all. She said that polyphonic ringtones are not supported by the program because the 8200 cannot use them, only midi
Ugghh Instead of trying to explain further (an exercise in futility), I transferred over to the technical support area. After a very long wait, the person on the phone said that they don't support qcp because they would have to get licensing to convert mp3s to make the polyphonic ringtones. *groan* I insisted that it was not necessary to have an mp3 to make a ringtone, and that thanks to this site, I already have everything I need to make a ringtone. All I needed it to transfer it over to the phone... So after much convincing he said he would pass my info on to the engineeting dept. He said they would e-mail me an answer by tomorrow. Much to my suprise the response came within half an hour. A blank e-mail with the subject: New Driver. I was skeptical, so I e-mailed back and asked if this driver would allow me to upload qcp ringtones to my Sanyo 8200. They responded yes!!So has anyone tried the updated driver yet?? Cliffs Notes: Future Dial now claims to have a driver that will allow Snap Media to work with qcp files! |

Focus works great for me too, but I am not going to pay $15 a month just to upload ringtones and other things to my phone. I'd rather buy the software, and save $180 per year by cancelling vision.

I don't know about the 8200 but I've been uploading pics and ringers to my 8100 using SnapMedia without too many problems. The new driver works pretty good and the 8200 is listed. The 8100 will only let you upload 3 ringers and 7 pics though because of the limited memory.

So when you say ringers, you mean qcp ringers? If that's the case I'm running out to get that cable!

hehe go figure...
Today I got another e-mail from Future Dial:
"SnapMedia currently only supports MIDI format with Sanyo phones. We are looking into mp3 support in the future release of SnapMedia." They don't seem to "get" that mp3 is not qcp. How hard could it possibly be for them to add qcp functionality?

What... so does it or does it not support (mp3) .qcp files?
Cause I'm needing this program if it can. -Mark |

I'm not even sure. I guess it does not. Mp3 is not qcp. There is no connection at all except that they are compressed audio files.

This new driver does not add .qcp support to SnapMedia. It is only the driver needed to get your computer and phone (8200) on speaking terms. After installing it, I didn't see any added functionality with Snapmedia. Thanks to Prez808.
