Is there a free website that will send me a weather alert for free like what sprint use to do? I know twc has it for a fee.

I think that one is just for daily weather forecasts. I haven't seen any severe weather alerts come through that.

There used to be a lot of free ones, but I don't think there are any now. It's not free, but http://www.weatherunderground.com is only $5 a year, and you can set a bunch of different kinds of alerts. I have them sent to xxx-xxx-xxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com. Works for me (and I live in tornado alley here) - sheureka

Our local CBS station sends sms weather alerts for free you can pick what counties you want the alerts for. Maybe one of the local stations in kasas does the same thing??

Check out http://www.emergencyemail.org/ and look at the side of the page for all of the states. They have news and weather etc.

i believe you can use anybody who has email alerts.. for example if weather.com has active alerts you can send your alerts to ##########@messaging.sprintpcs.com as someone said above

I highly suggest this service!!!

You will also receive notice on terrorist attack, terrorist warning level changes, severe weather events, earthquakes, etc.

Its basically emergency management dispatch.

Being in Wichita, I would think you have had a chance to fully test out the severe weather alerts and already get tired of them .

I also found this link which may help in finding out who sends email alerts,

http://newslink.org/

I'm trying the emergencymail.org site; funny thing is, if it doesn't work, you probably won't live to say how bad the service sucked.

Hey - I got my first two alerts this afternoon from them - one for tornado (put the flashlight in the basement with the chair and weather radio) - one for hail (put the car in the garage) - sheureka

Me too. All night long! I thought about coming in to the computer and telling the program to only send me alers between 7 am and 9 pm, but that would be sort of missing the point, wouldn't it? - sheureka
