Sanyo 5300 USB problem

I recently purchased a data cable for use with my 5300 as a data modem. The first couple of times I used the cable it connected through windows to the phone at 203kbps. Now it refuses to do anything but 28.8, I've tried everything, installed different drivers, and tried using it on different computers. All with the same result.... anyone else ever have this problem? Maybe I need to reset the phone somehow?

I'm having the same problem!

I'm having the same problem! My laptop is XP Pro using FutureDial SnapDialer. Anyone have any ideas why we can only get 28.8 all of a sudden?

Thanks!

you dont need any snap dialer software, just get the sanyo modem drivers from future dial, go to windows xp control panel, go to connections, set a new dial up connection, use sanyo 5300 as modem & use #777 as dial up number, you vision name & password, u r on, i used my sanyo cable for 5300 connected at 230k always although you dont get more than 144k, even used it on a beat up sanyo 4900 still got 115k, hope this helps.

I did the above and still am only connecting at 28.8. Don't know why I am having this issue all of a sudden. I have two Sanyo 5300's and they both only get 28.8. My laptop is an Evo N610c.

Hate to say it but I'm a system admin so this is so basic it's frustrating. This definately was checked. This all was working fine at 115k then all of a sudden without any changes I only connect at the painfully sloooooow 28.8k. I have two Sanyo 5300's and it works the same for both so it has to be my laptop.

I've checked the modem settings, redownloaded and installed the modem driver, uninstalled the modem and did a fresh install. I can't think of anything else to try. I set up a new connection in SnapDialer and as a new XP Network Connection.

All of my OS updates are installed, bios is updated and all other drivers. Any clues?

Is the original poster still having problems?

Hi, was just wondering where you got the different driver? I am experiencing something similar with my 5300 and XP, and the drivers I have are from Futuredial. Thanks

Delete any Sanyo related driver on your system, and install a new updated driver. I had that problem with my 4500 because the new driver was conflicting with my old 5300 driver. I think (but don't quote me) that its Sanyo.dll or something related to it, but all I did was uninstall the drivers from network/modem connections, and reinstalled using the updated downloads from futuredial, and then setup a standard DUN connection via Windows.
