Initial review of Sprint VI600/Curitel 8450

Well, I purchased a VI600 yesterday, and I must say I am fairly impressed by this little phone. I have not had a chance to explore everything, but I have had a chance to do a few things.

I will be comparing to the phone it replaced, a Samsung VI660.

Look and Feel: I really like the black face of the phone, it is a nice change from the all silver phones that we usually have. Feels very solid and has a good form factor. Keys are easy to press.

Earpiece quality: Excellent. No beeps or hissing that was sometimes present in the Samsung.

Speakerphone: Excellent. Little to no distortion at high volume.

Vision: Utilizes OpenWave browser that I like. Decent speed, but not quite as fast as my Samsung. Has 3 MB of memory, which is more than enough for me.

Screen: Very impressive for a 4,096 color screen.

UI: There is some room for improvement. I would like to be able to change the softkeys and the 4-way key, but it does not appear to have that ability.

Polyphonics: Very good. Unlike the Samsung, the ringers do not appear to distort at high volume levels.

Reception: Has been better than my Samsung for the most part.

Roaming Ability: Have not been able to test this yet as I have not left the DC Metro area yet with this phone.

Other Thoughts: OS reminds me a lot of the old Kyocera OS. Displays all of your phone's info when you call CS. Also found it odd that it came with 10021 and I am having trouble getting them to flag me for an update to 10023.
