5500 review from a Mac user
Just got home from Best Buy with a 5500. They're offering $150 off for new subscribers, left the store for $200 out of pocket. Fantastic little phone so far, I like the flip style better than the Sony Ericsson T616 I took back. The system software and menus seem much faster. Haven't tried the camera yet but the salesman took some video in the store which was impressive.
I also picked up a FutureDial data cable intended for the 4900, 5300 or 8100 models. Figured it was worth a shot and would take it back if it didn't work. Plugged into my iBook and the phone was instantly recognized. A couple minutes later and I'm on the web. Went to DSLreports.com to test the speed: 15.2 KB/sec download and 17 kbps upload. It's certainly not my cable modem but still respectable and more than enough for what I need. Overall I'm very happy so far. I'll spend the weekend playing with the new toy and see what else I can learn. |
