No subsidy for SERO?

I am not seeing a subsidized price for SERO, and I'm eligible for upgrade.

Quote:
As a customer who is upgrade eligible, Sprint has several great ways for you to upgrade your device (Sprint Prepaid customers are not eligible for these options):
yada yada

Quote:
Other Terms: Offers and coverage not available everywhere or for all phones/networks. Restrictions apply. See store or sprint.com for details.

To upgrade to another discounted device, here's what you'll need:

A new, 2-year Service Agreement
An account in good standing that reflects no past-due unpaid balance
A plan that's at least $39.99/mo. The primary line on the account may be required to activate on a service plan of $39.99 or higher ($39.99 is base monthly plan price and does not include monthly taxes, surcharges or fees for add-on features and services). Excludes Sprint Relay, SERO, Sprint Business Advantage Talk 200 plan, and the $34.99 3G and 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot and Tablet plans. Some exceptions apply.
Seriously?
This is bad news.

Has it been at least 24 months since your last upgrade or 2 year contract?

SERO is excluded from the $39.99 minimum monthly charge restriction, not excluded from upgrade. So anyone with the $30 SERO basic plan is eligible for upgrade despite the $39.99 minimum.

It won't show the subsidized price until 24 months now.

Do you mean before you were due for a 24 month upgrade or you had to have them add the subsidized option back to your account once you were past the 24 months since your last upgrade?

My contract ended on 7/12 . I called them up they gave me some line about only doing leases now. As soon as I made a comment about leaving they said they got an approval to offer another 2 year contract . Now when I shop for phones on Sprint I see the 24 month contract as an option and $450 off the phone price.

OK cool, thanks for the info. 2 year contract is still an option for a new customer as well.

the option for 2 yr contract is still available on my sero plan. For the S7, its currently showing $199 after rebate. The S7edge, is showing at $299 after rebate. Meh, because brand new customers get the same offer. So besides the monthly rate, there is no extra incentive to upgrading the phone.

I believe Sprint no longer offers subsidized pricing to new customers. The phone subsidy is only available to those on grandfathered plans which previously offered 2 yr. contract pricing.

some sprint exec said just that, but never said when that would take place. Go into sprint.com under incognito, and you can see that new members still have the subsidized option

Check out the other thread where it appears that Sprint is killing 2 year contracts again UNLESS the customer threatens to leave because of it. That is in the new training slide going around.

Looks like we will have to "go to sprint.com (not sure what this means) or call telesales" to renew 2 year contracts in future.
