Arrow Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge Appear On Samsung Website..

http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonke...rtner=yahootix

Quote:
Despite all the leaks and teasers, Samsung has not officially confirmed the existence of its upcoming Galaxy S6 and radical S6 Edge – until now.

In a strange move the South Korean giant has put the support pages for both the Galaxy S6 (SM-G920X) and the S6 Edge (SM-G925X) live on its Finnish and Swedish websites respectively. The move was spotted by the ever vigilant Dutch Samsung specialist GalaxyClub.nl.

Sadly the support pages currently contain no images or specifications, but it does mean we now know two versions of the company’s flagship smartphone will definitely be released. From images leaked last week, the standard Galaxy S6 will move to an aluminium unibody chassis highly reminiscent of the iPhone 6 and the experimental S6 Edge will copy the side ‘edge display’ of the Note 4 – quite possibly on both sides of the phone.

Galaxy S6 (SM-G920X) appears on Samsung support pages

Meanwhile specifications for the devices themselves are also firming up. Samsung’s controversial decision to ditch Qualcomm’s Snapdragon range (at least on the majority of phones) means both devices will be powered by its own 64-bit Exynos chipset. This will be supplemented by 3GB RAM, a 20MP camera, up to 128GB of storage and a 2k display (thankfully) expected to be 5 to 5.1-inches.

The hardware changes also see Samsung take a notable risk with the new models expected to dispense with removable batteries, a key differentiator for the company in the past.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, however, is Samsung’s new approach to software. Its TouchWiz Android skin and third party apps have long (and rightly) been criticised for being bloatware that needlessly wastes storage space and compromises performance. But from now on TouchWiz is said to be far more stripped back and modular with users able to remove elements they dislike/don’t need.

Galaxy Note Edge side display expected on S6 Edge.

Both the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will be unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in the first week of March. With Samsung under immense financial pressure while Apple thrives, the pair are likely to be the most important smartphones in its history.

Another report claims Samsung is prepping Galaxy S6 variant with three-sided display...They’ll both allegedy have all-metal bodies, Samsung’s newest processors, and 5.1-inch displays, say the leaksters. Additionally, one of the devices is expected to have a three-sided display.

I can live with no removable battery provided that there are fail safe ways to reboot the phone if it freezes since removing the battery is no longer an option, as I've never actually replaced the battery on my previous phones (with one glaring exception years ago) and always carry an external battery pack charger. But if it doesn't come with a MicroSD slot then it's a non-starter for me. My next phone will have to have 128GB on top of its base storage or else it's useless to me.

No MicroSD card, no user removable battery, not waterproof. Looks pretty though.

Here is Cnet's take on it. http://www.cnet.com/products/samsung-galaxy-s6/

And WOW!!!!!! no micro SD or removable battery not to mention no WATERPROOFING?!?! Samsung really screwed up here in my opinion.

The only good thing here is the storage sizes 32, 64, 128 GB.

Looks like I'll be getting an S5 after all as I'm not interested in a phone that has no MicroSD slot or removable battery and isn't waterproof. Plus prices will likely come down on the S5 as carriers start pushing the S6. I'll be upgrading from an ancient single processor WiMax HTC Android phone that's stuck on version 2.2 something so I won't mind being a generation "behind" at all.

Thanks, Samsung, for helping me make my decision!

Meh, I have SO many things I prefer to spend my money on than annual upgrades, which I literally don't understand unless you're under 25 (in which case how the hell do you afford it). I've always been on the 3-5 year upgrade cycle and that will never ever ever change. Ok, maybe I'll change it to 2-4. But that's it.

I thought an irreplaceable battery made it last longer? IPhone anyone? The expandable memory might be a deal breaker. Depending on how much it costs. Wouldn't think Sprint would do that to it's people. Didn't they change it for the evo lte? And Coba I was only kind of serious. Every other year might be ok but any further would be torture. F that.

I doubt Samsung would put a crap battery in the S6. I'm not worried about it since the phone charges so quick. I like that wireless charging works out of the box.

The fixed battery is less important to me than no MicroSD and not being waterproof. Both are deal breakers for me. Unless they come out with an "Active" version of the S6 that addresses both these issues, I'll probably get the S5 Active.

I'm fine with 32GB internal storage. I have that now and have 8GB free. That's with 5GB of pictures, videos that I could down to 1GB but I'm lazy. I don't store movies on my phone and not that much music since I just mainly use Pandora. I've never bought another battery and think that's just a hassle swapping batteries and carrying one. The Note 4 battery is almost as big as a phone. lol With quick charge and wireless charging built in I'm good. For the summer time I would rather have a smaller phone. So the micro slot, big removable battery has to go.
