If you happen to be looking for a new smartphone plan and don't need a lot of data and only have one line to worry about, Verizon has now dropped a new plan that might be of interest to you.

As part of a new promo, you can now get unlimited voice minutes, unlimited text messaging and 2GB of data for $60, you'll want to pay attention to the overage charges though that are set at a whopping $15/1GB. Obviously not going to be an option for everyone but it's sure to fit some needs.

If you happen to have a smartphone with Verizon Edge, you will receive $10 off the monthly access on the single line plan. If you're looking for the full details, Verizon has kindly set up a FAQ section on their site to view.

That's actually not bad if you need to be on Verizon. It's not quite as good as T-Mobile's $60 plan, but honestly, I would never expect Verizon to actually match T-Mobile. They don't need to. They have the network to make up for the extra cost.

Can current customers on a two year plan change to this without incurring a fee? What about when time comes for new upgrade? Is it installment plans then?

Friend of mine is a current Verizon customer and changed to this plan with no fee incurred. Upgrades are included as part of the $60. If customer went with Edge program (you pay over time) then the plan is $50... pretty damn tempting.

Are corporate discounts allowed on this plan, or is it like the $60 loyalty plan where no further discounts are honored?

This is an attractive price point but 2GB of data just isn't gonna work most months with my usage. If big red upped it to 3 or 4GB though, with the same $15/GB overage, then I would actually make the switch.
