Optimus G to get Kit Kat this summer

http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-Op...mer_id54401#3-

There's still hope. Maybe they'll see fit to include the QSlide apps the non-North American version received.

Good news although I wish it would have happened sooner as I qualify for a new device on July 1st. So I will likely not even have the phone anymore when this update is supposedly released.

I have to say this phone has been dissapointing. I have been batting text messaging app problems since the beginning and also incoming calls often roll to voicemail with the phone not showing any incoming or missed call notifications. I may not go with LG phones ever again because of this and the fact that they seem to be very slow at releasing firmware fixes and updates.

Yeah, it's definitely too little, too late for some. My upgrade is July 7th so we're not too far off from each other. I hope your next phone serves you better.

The phone has become more laggy over time and also my battery lasts only about half as long as it did when it was new. I have to charge it three time a day now. Also where's our Kit Kat upgrade? Even though I'll be getting a new phone soon it would be nice to get the upgrade so I can possibly sell it for a little more money.

I agree. Planning on factory reset next week sometime to see if it improves.

I'm not. I was generally happy with the phone in its stock configuration honestly.

Root it and flash optimus DE. The optimus g is a good phone. Rooting makes it great. Even if you stay on stock rom. Just removing the crap and stopping needless apps from starting at booting makes a big difference. Greenify is better than a task killer. Ad blocking through the host file. The list goes on. I cant believe you are not rooted.

.....Still waiting for Kit Kat. No evidence to suggest it's coming. I guess it's not happening.

Yeah I'm going to get it later this month. But I was hoping that the OG would have Kit Kat so that I could either save it for a backup phone or for better resale value.

Not sure when you are upgrade eligible, but both Amazon and Best Buy are selling the G3 for $100 for upgrade/contract renewals. Taking the Mrs. after work to replace her Evo LTE today more than likely.

I got the G3 last night and it's awesome so far! Wasn't really a clean slate because after I logged into my google account, the salesman set it up to start downloading all my old apps. I know I can just do a reset, but it's kind of nice not starting from scratch.

Why did I think the G3 wouldn't be on sale until July 18th? That's what I read.

I qualify now.

It wasn't supposed to be available until then, but I saw the buzz all over the internet stating Best Buy and Amazon had it...cheap! $99 to be exact. Always wanted a phone as big as the Note, but no way in hell was I going to pay $350 for it. G3 was a no-brainer for me.

I will say this. I think we're in the same boat. It's a huge upgrade over the Optimus G. If we were on the G2, then maybe not so much. Definitely report back if you end up getting one.
