Sorry Google, I think the Moto X will flop

No, I donít have a crystal ball, nor am I a self-proclaimed expert in the topic, but have you ever had one of those moments where a product just doesnít make sense? When Microsoft announced both the Surface RT and the Surface Pro, I knew the RT would flop, simply because of its lack of a solid ecosystem when compared to the Pro or any other tablet in the market. The same happened with the HTC First, since hey, why would you feel a need to buy an HTC First if you could get Facebook Home on last-yearís Galaxy S III for the same price? Sadly, just like with these two other products, I do believe the Moto X will flop.

Hyping up last years specs at a high price isn't kool !

If this was a Sammy would ya be making this thread. Who cares if it's a flop. Just saying. It's sad Google is blowing so much $ on it though.

Sammy would't be putting out last year's crap and they'r always pushing the bar!No wonder no one can beat them at the present time...

At least I'm not the only one that sees it !

These people need to get off their asses and do some innovating !

It is sad that Google/Moto is putting money into this !
What are they thinking ? It just gives Samsung more room to go for the gold !

If the Moto X were offered at the same time as the GSlll, I would have got the X instead. However since it came out now, I have no real interest. We as techies, are always looking for the cutting edge specs which makes the X a let down.

But I think I understand what Motorola is trying to do. As we all know, the majority of people get a phone for obtuse reasons (style, cool factor, color and other inane reasons) Moto is taking a shot at the mass market and will most likely advertise all the gee-whiz features of the phone to draw interest. As they said they're pushing the "experience" rather than the hardware.

Look at the iPhone. Spec wise, it has been behind for years in the OS and hardware areas compared to what Android and other higher end phones are featuring. The iPhone still does things very well, but it hasn't been cutting edge for several years and the iPhone flock isn't buying it for the specs either.

I get what Motorola is trying to do. It's risky, but if they do it right they could draw the mass market to it and ensure its survival. Of course the tech journals and blogs (again the techies)aren't helping them so the media could be a factor in whether this phone is a succuss or not.

Agreed ...
What are people going to buy? This X device? Or a device that has a 13mp camera- 8 cores and 3gigs of ram?

Why spin wheels and waste time?

I give LG a lot more credit now for even trying to compete.

From what I read this device is aimed that the mass market for a feature/budget phone.

It's not aimed at the tech heads.

Thats what makes this interesting. By shooting for the mass market they will be trying to make this phone exciting for the common person. We'll see. It hasn't worked for BB or WP, but maybe Google has something up it's sleeve. For the record, if this phone had some future proof specs, I'd give it a try.

Agreed

The only thing I like about it is that you can talk to it and it responds.

My understanding is that it is using krait 300 cores and adreno 320, so if true that is hardly last year's specs.

If it's a dual core of any kind it's last year's specs. .
We are moving into 8 cores as of now.
It shouldn't be any less than a quad core.

Moore's law states that computer transistors and integrated circuits should double every year.
