Motorola Moto X first siting

Invitations for the launch presentation just went out a few hours ago, but you won’t have to wait until August 1st to check out the mightily-hyped Motorola Moto X (or is it moto x?) Designed not as an early adopter’s phone, but instead as an everyman phone, the X is the new Motorola’s first attempt to push some serious volume under new-ish owner Google. With a mid-range spec-sheet, but a decked-out feature set — and heavy customizability options — Moto X hopes to win over a market saturated with a host of Galaxies and Optumi.

Looks identical to a Galaxy Nexus ...

Agreed. Mid-range specs but IMO equivilent to the GS3 perfomance wise except for the camera and a few other tweeks. I'm curious about the sensors it will have and will be reading the reviews to see if it makes this device a gamechanger of just another gimmick. Who knows, if it comes at a price point like the Nexus 4 and sold though Google Play w/o a contract/subsidy, Moto may see my money.

Yea...
This is a prime example of Motorola doing nothing innovative ! This is why they don't impress me.
Mediocre processor- mediocre ram- mediocre camera.
All hype and nothing backing it up!

I also think the specs are decent and was thinking maybe G will sell them really cheap to whether on upgrade or full MSRP to make sales?

The phone was in the works before G buyout, but I think they had a chance to change it, yet they didn't.....=/

People's hype of G buyout along with expectations has made the outcome bad lol...

If it has killer battery life they will have my money. There's nothing I want to do and can't do because of lack of power with my S3. I don't need a bigger/better processor.

Well $299 out of contract sounds like a steal.....as for specs....

A dual-core Qualcomm S4 Pro MSM8960DT 1.7GHz CPU, Adreno 320 GPU. I'm still not sure what the "d" stands for in the processor model number, but it's likely the same as MSM8960T - confirmed by our photos
2GB of RAM - confirmed by our photos
720x1184 4.7" (about 4.5" without on-screen buttons) display - confirmed by our photos
2.1MP front-facing camera / 10.5MP rear camera with flash - confirmed by our photos
802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi (ac made it in, nice!) - confirmed by FCC docs
Android 4.2.2 on the unit being tested - confirmed by our photos
16GB internal memory, 12GB of which is user-accessible (on the unit being tested) - confirmed by our photos
NFC - confirmed by our photos
2,200 mAh non-removable battery - confirmed by FCC docs and first tipped off by @evleaks
XT1058 / "ghost" (this is the AT&T variant) - as shown in photos
128.5mm x 65mm - confirmed by FCC docs
About 18.7K AnTuTu score - as shown in photos
About 7.1K 3DMark Ice Storm Extreme score - as shown in photos
There is no external storage (MicroSD slot) support, says our tipster. We've requested additional visual confirmation, but no memory slots were visible anywhere.
Model numbers: XT1060 (Verizon), XT1058 (AT&T), XT1056 (Sprint), XT1055 (US Cellular)

This is a huge step backward ! dual core ? Come on ..
2gigs of ram ? Why not 3 like the newer devices coming out ?
No SDcard slot- No removable battery

10.5MP camera ? why not 13MP ? like higher end phones ?

This is basically a Galaxy S3 with a little bit of a better camera.

It better only be $250! It's not a high end device!
Blah...

Almost last year specs but with a $300 out of contract w/4.2.2? That ain't that bad IMO, hell manufacturers are putting out dual 1ghz and retail is higher .

Idk dude ..
Rebranding last year's specs as new is not kool at all ..
It just doesn't show innovation of any kind.

If someone is looking for a budget phone then it's ok I guess...

The only thing I like about it is the curved glass.

I just hope no one breaks it ! It'd be a real pain to fix!

It's not rebranding. It's another manufacturer making a mid range phone.
Why in the world would you need 13 mp on the camera? You should know that the number of mp has nothing to do with the quality of the camera.

From what I've read some of the software features will be very cool. If the price is right I think it's going to be a great phone.

I'm pretty keen to try one, but only through MotoMaker and only with the 32GB option. 16GB becomes something like 11GB after taking apps into account. Nah, that ain't making it for me.
