Sprint New iPad data plans announced
Yesterday, the nation’s third-largest carrier Sprint announced the iPad and iPad Mini are hitting its 4G network in mid-November. To compliment the launch, Sprint has announced updated data plans this evening that will be available to customers with tablets on the network beginning November 11. Sprint will make the data plans available contract free, and they will start at $14.99 for 300MB of data, $34.99 for 3GB of data, $49.99 for 6GB of data and $79.99 for 12GB of data for new customers. However existing Sprint customers get a nice break and can add a tablet to their plan for $10 per month for 100MB or $15 per month for 1GB. Sprint says that its new data plans offer “20 percent more data than Verizon or AT&T for the same price” — though its coverage map is smaller. The carriers adds that for a limited time there is no activation fee for a new tablet.

I fail to see ANY incentive to buying one of these through Sprint.

Some folks like Sprint and don't want a new service just for the tablet? Some folks only want the data just in case? Some folks have perfectly fine coverage with Sprint?

I'm one that has perfectly fine coverage. But ... will I get the iPad Mini? Where would I put it? Between the iPad 2 and 3, or at the end of the line? Methinks I have enough tablets with those 2 and a Kindle WiFi ...

I prefer to get items like this in GSM form. That way I can use the data in other devices. My Ipad sim has been in 2 3G enable laptops, a usb modem, a mifi, a couple of iphones and few Android tablets and phones. If your gonna pay for a data plan, may as well make it as useful as possible.

I dont care who the carrier is but I will NEVER buy a carrier enabled tablet. Even on the shared plans of AT&T and Verizon the price up front is just to much. Wifi only + hot spot on phone FTW

You cannot do voice and data with Sprint or Verizon hotspot on the phone so either MiFi or carrier enabled hotspot tablet option.
