Upgrade ?
My phone is eligible for upgrade starting tomorrow and I'm kinda unsure of what I should do? I know it comes down to what you want but I'm asking because I'm trying to weight my options. Right now I just found on Amazon.com they are selling the Samsung Galaxy Epic Touch for $49.99. I believe that is a deal that I might not be able to pass up on considering I would like to get the GSIII when it comes out which no one knows as of know and that I'm sure will be $299 with upgrade. So my question is that price to good to sit and wait for a phone that will basically be 6x the price, but will according to the rumors, be justified due to the specs? I currently have an rooted Evo 4g running ICS Evervolv 4.03.

I want to hold out sorta but I'm not wanting to pay $300 plus dollars for a phone that I'm just using to hold me over until the next best thing comes out and then pay another $200/$300 for another phone. I'm sure that GS3 will not be less than $299 at release with upgrade.

Here's my take. The next big trend is quad-cores, but they won't be out until this fall or 4th quarter which includes the GSlll. If you have good WiMax reception and your EVO is still working ok, then I would stick it out.
However, as Euphorian mentioned, the Epic Touch will start to go down in price the closer we get to summer since not many will be buying WiMax phones or dumping them as we get closer to the LTE launch. You may find a good deal on one to tide you over and use your upgrade later this year when the iPhone and new LTE quad-cores are out. |

I would like to wait but I'm like most who want new things, although I only had my EVO for a year now. As of today I have convinced myself that I can wait and see what happens with these rumored new quad core devices. I'm rooted and already on ICS although it's not bug free but it has been my daily driver for about a week with limited issues and Great battery life! :-)

Here's something that may help. The GSlll may be launch next month although it won't be in the U.S. So we may be looking at a summer to early fall launch for us.

The Galaxy Epic Touch is quite a phone. Personally I'd jump on that for $50 and then wait and see the reviews on the GS3 after it's been out a month or so. You just never know when a fatal flaw emerges, like poor battery life or the inability to connect to a WiFi network. Even with new models that are little more than an update of the last model, whacky problems like that can arise. That's why I advocate the GET now and waiting on the GS3. Plus I'm also a "gotta have it now" kind of guy so waiting even longer is not my strong suit. I can wait a month or so to read reviews after a device is released, but waiting 4-6 months ain't happening.

The Epic Touch is certainly a good phone you can't go wrong with. Sprint will support Wimax until 2015 and if you have a good connecting where you live you could be content for a few years until your next upgrade. If I had WiMax where I live, I would give it a serious look, but I'm holding out another year or so for LTE.

Unfortunately I do not have WiMax in my area, I'm too a need it now guy but I'm trying to wait! I personally think there will be issue with these quad core phones and you probably won't notice a difference between quad core and dual core for a year or so. I like the ET but a friend of my just got it like 2 weeks ago and now I feel like I want something no one has..
