As a 8+ year Sprint customer, I have to say I have rarely looked at other providers and have always promoted Sprint to my friends as providing great value. However, over the last several years, with Sprint's administrative fees and now the new discount policy adding $$$ to my bill, it is no longer a value and I tomorrow I will start looking...not saying I will leave Sprint, but feel there is most like a better 'value' out there. Just from lurking on this forum, I have to think that with money as tight as it is for many families, that the changes have encouraged many families to re-think their loyalty to Sprint.

It's literally called "taxing address", and you are right, most reps don't update it. If you call in or come into the store to change your address, have them apply your address to all addresses (taxing, billing, physical) as long as it isn't a PO Box.

I have the 1500 family plan with 3 lines. We get a 23 percent discount. My new bill is the same as my previous bill.

@madcap
Your discount percentage stayed the same, but the amount of the bill that receives said discount did change. Instead receiving 23% off lines one and two ($129.99) you are only receiving 23% off line one ($110). That's a difference of $4.60/month. Not a big deal to most, but to some it's the difference between staying and leaving.

I think it's ridiculous that Sprint Corporate touts these changes as making Sprint 'on par with other carriers'. What Sprint fails to realize is that it is really a small fish in a big pond. They aren't size/coverage wise on par with the big names, so they should not be trying to emulate them in their pricing either. Sprint made their niche in the industry as an affordable option and unlimited data. Now they are virtually destroying that niche with price changes and poor data performance.

This month, our taxes and surcharges (remember, Sprint has certain location-based surcharges) dropped from about $35 to about $20. It would be great to have the difference from the past several years reimbursed. Over nearly four years, that represents a difference of nearly $700.

My plan is this.
Call up Sprint. Tell them i'll leave due to change. They'll give 30 days to port. Port out around the 15th of March. Call back Sprint after the port to get credit to cover the ETF. Do you think Sprint is going to give me a hastle with getting the ETF credited?

Good luck! Don't think there is any chance at that.

Thanks. I would a little worried since the actual port would happen outside the 30 days since the change of the contract. Due to my WireFly agreement, I can't port out til 3/17.

If you just established your service, or upgraded, you have a 14 day window to return the equipment you purchased, which will in turn bring your contract back to the original date prior to upgrade/establishing service. The only problem with 3rd parties like Wirefly is they do not report returns info to Sprint, meaning it would be very difficult to reset your contract date back to what it was. You HAVE to port out within the first 14 days to avoid the cancellation fees. Equipment fees you might be stuck bc Wirefly is hard to work with.

I bought my current phone(SGS II) on launch day from WireFly back in September. March 17 would be 182 days since the phone was activated. WireFly policy is for the device to stay on it's rate plan for 181 days. From what I have read and from what Sprint reps have told me, I have 30 days from the time I requested for my service to be cancelled to port out.

From the sounds of it, you port out after the cancellation is scheduled. You will then get your last bill from Sprint that will have the ETFs on it. Once you get that, THEN call to get ETFs waived. You'll have to wait until the ETFs show up on your bill to get the credit from what I've experienced and heard from others that have done it.
