Thumbs up Victoria, TX with 4G

I saw the Clearwire map, but I think this was recently activated because I turned it on today and it works here with the EVO. The East side of the coverage area seems to be correct, but on the West side, it is either not ready yet, or is something where you will need an antenna. I think the tower is the one just West of the new high school(East High) by Stockbauer and Ben Jordan and Leary lane. The map has expanded since the last time I looked at it(January). Glad to see it is here now. Hopefully the full pattern will be usable soon! Thanks for turning this on Clearwire!!: tu:

Interesting. I have some friends interested in Clear, and although you can't "qualify" using an address in that area, they still might be able to get service.

Just that one tower in Victoria at this time, no plans for anything else.

Congrats! Can you go to www.speedtest.net and post your 4G speeds? Corpus Christi has 4G, but the fastest I got was around 5MB download.

Yep...clear is throwing up single towers everywhere to hang on to the licenses. They threw one up covering the hood area in my metro area. Worthless...does not even cover downtown.

...but you gotta admit, that's a smart move clear is doing... to build one tower per city is spreading it around. Not focus on just one city...

Hopefully they do it here... just need it at cocoa and NASA at the space coast and ill be happy

Already noticed my phone switching from evdo to 1x a lot, and did all I could as an ex-tech so hopefully that's a sign

Phone switching to 1x a lot means nothing as the 4g network has nothing to do with the existing 1x and EVDO network.

It's not about covering one town etc its about using the ebs spectrum that sprint had for xohm

4G Speedtest

I was able to test it and got these incredible results:
8.35Mbps download
.91Mbps upload

This was at the intersection of Airline and Ben Jordan, with two "halos" above the 4G symbol. It still is quite sparse of a signal along Navarro, where it drops quite often. West of Navarro, it seems to disappear completely. I am certain they are still working on this one with an official availability this summer?????

ClearTech makes it sound like they won't? Where did you hear that, because that would be great news!

The 5 question marks seems out of place with a sentence beginning "I am certain."

Stick with ClearTech...solid answers, as far as I have seen...

The only way things will be changing is if we get bought or funded then all bets are off.

As of right now clearwire is in a money conservation mode.
