Cool LG Optimus - Can't Send or Receive text Messages with Pictures

For some reason I cannot send someone a text message with a picture attached. Can't receive one from anyone either. I can share/send a picture to someones email and to facebook but can't send or receive a text message with a picture attached. Anyone know why or how I can fix this?

That's called MMS or Picture Mail. Update your Profile and try again.

Menu, Settings, About Phone, System Updates, Update Data Profile. This is from memory so if that isn't where it is, poke around. Data Profile is your settings for data.

Are you using the stock messaging app or a 3rd party one? There have been a lot of problems and complaints with Go SMS when it comes to sending pictures. I had the same problem until I uninstalled it and went back to stock app.

FYI, if you installed and use Google Voice to send SMS messages it is not compatible with MMS (multimedia messaging service)

I'm having the same problem as the OP. When I did the above, at System Updates the message is "Your System is currently up to date." (I'm using the stock messaging widget.)

If using WiFi, try handcent. Stock messaging app blows. Handcent rocks, and is very customizable

Sent from my thread crapping EVO, because some threads just need a good crapping now and then

You cannot send MMS via WiFi. Don't listen to HeavyD. He is known to be heavily intoxicated by this time of day.

My issue was fixed. Just figured I'd let you know how...

Along with the text problem I was also having a problem with not being able to setup my voice mail (this is a new phone) so I contacted customer service for help. They tried resetting my voice mail password but that didn't help. I was transferred over to tech support and they were able to reset my voice mail account. After they did that I was able to update my profile like TheEngineer posted above and my voice mail and SMS problems were fixed.

I think the voice mail problem was due to me porting over a number from AT&T, but the number in my phone's settings was the temporary Sprint one, so there was the issue. I don't know if this would have affected the SMS problem too.

Not your firmware, your Data Profile.

Did you have Mobile Network turned off? No, of course not. It still went out on "3G", not Wifi.
