SERO Premium activation questions

To start, I tried searching to see if this was asked. No luck...
Will this work?
If I add a line to get the Evo at the new contract price, can I turn around and cancel it to keep the phone? What is the window? I was thinking it was 30 days.?.?.
Then I was going to take the phone and transfer it over to my SERO line with the upgrade.
Am I able to pull this off?
Thanks in advance!

I suppose you technically can, but what is the benefit? You lose any MIR, sellers like best buy and radio shack have gotten much better on making sure devices are returned within the 1st 30 days, and if you go to day 31 your looking at a $36 activation fee, plus a month of service (70 +10 EVO data fee) and taxes. Its gonna cost you around $150 for that month with taxes, $200 for the ETF, and $200 minimum for the EVO. So, your gonna pay $550 for a device with a full retail of $450.

Even if you tried to use it for an hour and then cancel the line, I believe you have to have the seller list the phone as returned to avoid the activation and ETF fee's. Since you dont intend to return it, it will cost you $200 for the device, $200 ETF and $36 for activation, saving you $14 for the headache.

Activating EVO on different SERO account

I currently have 3 different $30 SERO plans under 1 account. One of them (my wife's phone) is eligible for 2 year upgrade with $150 discount and $100 MIR. I plan to use that plan to buy EVO phone. Can I activate the phone on 10/1 on my plan and still getting $100 MIR? If not getting the MIR, can I still at least activate it on my plan and not extending my contract (I am 1 year in contract)?

Its hard to believe but according to this CR you can s/w to 3g....Could be another lost CR...

I had same question....here is the relevant part of the transcript:

me: "I take evo...and after 5 months I want to go back to non 4g...then what do I do"
me: "am I stuck ever with 4g?"
Agent : "NO,"
Agent : "$10 is associated with EVO an EPIC phone only."
me: "then can I go back to 40 $ plan?"
me: "and use Hero?"
Agent : "That is correct."
me: "And if I take evo on contract"
me: "then do I have to live with 4g for 2 years?"
Agent : "No,"
Agent : "You can change the phone / plan ."
me: "Then would you take Evo back?"
Agent : "No,"
Agent : "You can only return the phone if it is under 30-days Sprint Guarantee program."

If it's anything like the regular ED plans, thank yes the agent is correct. The $10 fee is linked with the ESN of the specific handset (Evo or Epic). I have an Evo and if I switched phones to lets say a Hero, my $10/month would stop that day with pro ration.

A lil different than what I was asking. Opposite actually. I wanted to keep the phone, and ditch the the line. If I waited till the 31st day to cancel, I'd have to pay an ETF. Follow?

Sprint SERO Premium+Employee Discounts

I currently have a 23% percent work discount on Sprint through my employer and asked way back for Sprint ECare to add the discount to my current plan. They did so promptly and I'm now tinkering around with the move to the EVO or a HERO but fear I would loose this discount if I did. Anyone know for sure?

Turning on phone prior to activation

Hello All,

I would like to ask you all for your advice. My new phone came today and all the paper work says I should not turn it on until I call sprint and activate it. Well...I'm on SERO so I can't activate it until 10/1. Anyone know what happens if I turn it on without calling sprint? I'd like to start playing with it on WIFI, as my 30 days just started....

Thanks!

I honestly don't know the answer but logically I would say yes.

MIR - Rebate for extending contract another x number of years. Should have nothing to do with phone activation

Your account: Phone activation does not normally extend contract. Only purchasing a new phone at a subsidized price.

Hello All.

I tried searching but couldn't find the info. I was looking for...

I currently have the Sprint Retail EMP PV Ult plan.

Does anyone know if I can upgrade to one of the SERO Premium plans?

Thanks for the help!

Cheers,
