Sanyo [By Kyocera] Android phone coming soon!

Sprint will release a Sanyo phone running Android 2.1 pretty soon.

It will be a candy bar type phone with a virtual keyboard. 3.2 megapixel camera and 3.5 inch lcd screen.

It will cost $99 after $100 MIR.

Wonder how this phone will turn out.

If Sanyo/Kyocera is smart, now is the time to jump on the Android bandwagon. HTC, Samsung, and Moto are producing most of the Android phones as of right now. With LG is losing its grip in the smartphone market, now is the time for Sanyo to capitalize on this. I hope they do it. I'll take a 4G Sanyo Android over my Sanyo M2!

Go to Kyocera's website and see the one there that Cricket is selling. May be the same thing Sprint will be selling.

I hope so....I want to upgrade in OCT if i can. (Sooner the better).
If this phone is similar to the Zio, then it will be ok for me. I have played with Crickets Zio and it not bad.

Hopefully Kyocera has improved build quality because they were garbage in the past.

Are you claiming that it will have EVDO revA, a 480x800 screen, and no $10/month surcharge?

That would be wonderful, but I'm skeptical.

revA in the specs is irrelevant if its upload is capped at 150 kbps by the network.

Perhaps the 150-kbps cap on the Epic was a "dry run" for phones to come?

Name a Sprint Android phone released in 2010 that doesn't require the $10/month surcharge and is not brain-damaged.

Answer: None.

Are you or are you not claiming that this Sanyo will be the first such phone this year? Or are you merely suggesting that this time, the brain damage will be sneakier--e.g., a quietly imposed speed limit of 150 kbps on uploads? Perhaps Sprint will even try to shift the blame for the speed limit, as they laughably did with the Epic?
---
"We have heard reports of users experiencing less-than-expected 3G upload speeds with their Samsung Epic 4G. After extensive investigation, Sprint and Samsung have identified an enhancement that may improve upload speeds on the Epic. This fix will be made available in the next maintenance release. Itís important to note that network speeds are impacted by many factors when using commercially-available speed test applications and test results may or may not be true indicator of the actual network performance."

Seriously, you are claiming Sprint capped the epic at 150 intentionally? Come on, they messed up, it is a firmware bug, but intentionally, thats is really pushing it dude.
