Bad text glitch with sending to wrong person

This glitch is going to get me shot one day. Every now and then, right when I hit send, it will change the person who I'm sending the text to. It always a person that is currently in the list of people who I have already been texting. Anyone else experience this?

I haven't had that exact issue, but I have had to be very careful with texts when you are juggling multiple texts. Since all ongoing texts are listed on the same page, I have had a few occasions when I wasn't paying attention, I clicked on the wrong one, composed it and decided to look to see that is was going to the correct person and almost screwed up. When you start to type in the body of the text, you lose the top portion of who it is addressed to. You have to scroll back up to see that. I wish the person you were texting to would stay in view.

Yeah I see the picture as well. It's just odd because sometimes (not often, only about 4 times in thousands of texts, but still) it just switches the person right at send. I wonder if there is some way to change to the next person when you're in the view of another persons text... kind of like the side swipe on the HTC Touch phones... Maybe it's someway to do that. I couldn't replicate it though.

I second the motion on using Handcent. Besides, your texting is just like the iPhone with the word bubbles.

Hmmmm... I don't know about a 3rd party app to take over my messages. My "They're watching me" syndrome would probably come into play. Although I know that carriers already keep records of texts, I just don't need extra companies doing it lol.

I've had this problem only with the stock messaging app, but I think it was a touchscreen thing. I would tap the top of the screen but it would actually "click" someone else's text and then I could possibly send a text to the wrong person. I switched to Handcent just because it was happening pretty often. I since kept on Handcent because I could send bigger MMS messages instead of the 1MB limit on the stock app. I'm fairly sure they are not keeping track of my SMS messages in any form but then I haven't decompiled their app to look at it either :-P

I suppose if you were really paranoid about someone snooping on your SMS you could use the AOSP ( android open source project ) messenger app but then you'd either have to compile it yourself or trust someone else's compiled app lol.

Handcent and Chomp are both just interfaces to the underlying SMS messaging system in Android... Just like the stock app.

I like Handcent and Chomp but both are buggy right now so I uninstalled them for the time being. I sure miss the interface though, stock is just so... boring.

My wife was having an issue about 10 days ago. The text messages were being sent to other accounts and she was receiving text messages from people that didn't send a text message.

She powered the phone off and then back on and it fixed the issue. I think there might have been a database issue that was linking people to the wrong phone number. Her phone hasn't been restarted for 35 days at that time.

I started using handcent. Is there a way to turn off the notifications for the stock app so I don't get double notifications?

Ya just go back into the stock app Menu -> Settings -> Received Notification - uncheck that
