Question Update changed Gmail password

OK, I had to change my Gmail password, and I did that via my laptop. Now my EVO can not access the account until I change the password on the EVO.

I looked under the "Accounts and Sync" tab, but I see only "Sync Now" and "Delete"

Is there a way to simply update the password or do I have to completely delete the account?

I just checked everywhere I could think of, even rerunning the setup, and still found nothing. Looks like you will have to delete and re-add your Google account.. unless I'm missing something.

Thanks for the reply and assistance. This morning I found that if I went to the gmail app and tried to refresh the mail, the app asked for the new password. Entered and all good now.

I hope this may help someone else......

Smile Figured it out

Am I really late with this? I was just playing around on my Shift and ran across the problem of needing to change my gmail password. great. So after bumbling in the dark for a while, I got a good idea. Changed my gmail password on the computer, then went into Add Account and retyped my email in with the new password. Worked like a charm. let me know if anyone already tried this and i'm really behind

still having problem fixing password

Thanks for the suggestions. Neither is working for me. Cannot readd the same account I already have and don't get request for password when I refresh, just message that sync is not working. Any other ideas?

Actually it is better to do it that way
I did it the opposite way on my EVO 4G
and kept getting an annoying error message
because of sync
I eventually needed to do a hard reset
to get rid of the error message

You did the rite thing !

Yea
A hard reset like I said earlier
Its a pain
But sometimes the easiest way
to get rid of annoying problem!

Just start all over again

I got a message indicating that there was a connection problem my gmail account on my phone. I logged in to my gmail account using the Internet on my phone. I typed in my username and new password (password was changed from my laptop). I then signed out of my account. I clicked on the "Mail" icon on my phone and then I was able to receive my email messages.

I've had issues recently not being able to update a changed password. Usually if I get the "log in error for xyz acct" message, I just update the password and I'm good. Lately I can't do that. When I go the accounts and sync, there is a message that there is currently a problem with sync and it will be back shortly. This is a secondary account and my other 2 are fine. I have not tried to remove and re-add however. Short of that, anyone else running across this issue?

Best way so you do not have to wipe your account and start over is to go to one of the functions that uses the gmail and password and update it there. I use the gmail itself, by going to gmail, menu, settings, account settings and follow the menu till you get to the password, then put in your new one. This works for me!

Very simple solution for me, just open the Play Store (used to be Market Place) and you will be prompted for your password. User tool2269 recommended this. In this case my Gmail Account is the same one that I was using for the Play Store. Perhaps if you have multiple Gmail accounts you may need to do something else.
