Samsung Intrepid Problems

Does anyone using a Samsung Intrepid have problems with the phone:

-randomly turning off and not being able to power it on (unless you hit reset button)--this happened to me just now so I tested it out by pullling out the battery, pulling out sim and microSD cards and I still couldn't turn it on with the power button...

-randomly soft-reset?

I know it's full of bugs and I've read some reviews about people complaining, but I wanted to know if SU users have had the same problems. Thanks!

I'm debating whether I should sell it or dump it..and if I got a new phone, I have no idea what I would get to replace it.

^^ Maybe that's the source of my problem..windows mobile 6.5 is just a very poorly built OS.

Try a hard reset before making any decisions. Sometimes it helps a lot.

I have heard complaints from my mom about the Intrepid. I thought she was just not knowing how to use the phone and what not, but after trying it personally...it's just acting weird.

Main thing that bugged me was it not recognizing touchscreen inputs, fingers or stylus. I mean, it'll recognize it for finger scrolling, but trying to select things.....terrible. I even swear that the sides of the touchscreen are iffy; might need to try a recalibration on it.

It even has charging issues...letting you know it's done charging when it's not plugged in, or just not having a good charge. All sorts of weird things.

Oh, and I hate trying to copy & paste on it.....but that's probably a WinMo 6.5 thing; they made it worse instead of better.

Thankfully I don't have the problems you mentioned...but I've already tried hard-resetting it.

I could call Sprint and see what they can do, but I doubt it'll do any good. Anyone have input on that?

Can anyone describe what might be the cause of the following:

Applications randomly will close even though I did not close them...for example, every time I open task manager, email app (outlook) isn't there. Also, when I switch from Opera Mini over to my twitter application and back, one of the two close.

This has happened after I hard-reset my phone. Any ideas?

There is a new ROM up on Sprint.com for the Intrepid that fixes all fo these issues (I had them as well). no more BT disconnecting or random hard rest.

The Rom has a May 24th date so it is definately new.

Has anyone used this yet? I am concerned (since the TP2 issues), that an update to our ROMs may fix certain problems and cause new ones?

*maybe i'm being paranoid..well, probably not maybe..i AM lol*

I updated over the weekend, and biggest fix I've noticed so far is that pressing "ok" when you're finished with a settings screen no longer sends you all the way back to the Today screen. You just head back to the previous settings page. I haven't really had random reset issues or program closes before the update.

I really expected the update to clear out the NFL app and replace with the Football Live, but that didn't happen.

Anyone able to find an official change log anywhere?

I'm happy with the update, "everything" has been fixed..either that, or the problems just haven't come yet.

*fingers crossed*

This may be me going crazy, but did they remove the "Windows Classic" lock screen?

Okay, i take back what I had said..one new problem I am now noticing is that the screen has a habit of turning on at random. I have it set so that the only button to wake the phone is the power button, so it's not that i'm hitting buttons.

It simply randomly turns on...odd.

This is after the new firmware update, hasn't been a problem before!

Hi,

I've had my Intrepid since 3/30, and have had no problems. I have a lot of sw loaded on it, SPB mobile, a button mapping sw, dictionaries, etc. I've configured & customized the heck out of my phone, so if there were any problems, I'd have probably gotten them by now.

So, I would recommend you get another phone, esp if you're in the 30 day trial period.

Also, call Samsung directly (800-SAMSUNG) because from my experience Sprint tech support don't always provide good info. More than likely, they'll say you have a defective phone.

I personally haven't had to do any upgrades, and I'm quite happy with my phone. Anyway, I know it probably doesn't help to hear how someone else with the same model is doing fine, esp when you're having problems with yours, but I definitely think you have a bad phone.

Anyway, hope this is of some assistance. Good luck.

Thanks Helix,

I'm back to having some of the problems I had before, specifically the random shut-off. Granted, that's the only problem I'm having at this point after the firmware update. I personally think it's software, given that these problems are happening with a lot of other WinMo 6.5 phones...I guess it would never hurt to give Samsung a call.

My phone currently has an invisible shield on it, so I just don't want to go through the hassle of removing that to send my phone in, haha. (But I will if I must). Also, I don't mean to come across as stubborn or pessimistic, but I am afraid that the replacement phone I receive will still be plagued with OTHER problems that I haven't experienced...haha.
