I'm in the same boat, and it's one of the few things that irk me about the Hero. Just curious, what email do you use? I use Gmail, and get nothing but blue boxes with a question mark in the middle where images/photos should be... which makes me have to go to the laptop to see the images. Why should we have to do that???

I have the same problem using Gmail, when I get a message like that I will use the Hero browser and go to the html version of Gmail and I can see them. That is annoying, but that is one way to make it work.

i did find that by going in and changing "store attachments" on the internal, not external, it seemed to work. I am not sure if that is the issue or not. with that change it a mail item will say show html images where as it did not before.

will have to get a few more to see if that resolved it or not.

my mail is a google mail and i really REALLY dont want to use the browser to see them

Ok, another issue. Using the browser Gmail, I can view attachments, which is great, but if I forward the mail from there with attachments, the recipients can't see them! What the heck, I can't win here! The built in Gmail won't let me view them, and the browser version won't let other people see them when sent...Arggg

Is this just .jpg files, or any image format? Whenever I receive an email with embedded pictures (in Gmail), there is a button "Show Pictures", at which once I click on it, all embedded pictures are displayed in the email.

That's the thing, many of us don't get any 'show pictures' button. At least I don't. But since I've been using the Dolphin browser, I can see most attachments in the gmail there, it appears to be the web version of gmail as opposed to the Gmail format that comes with the phone, and no show picture button needed.

Send a message via AIM to etiger13
Are you using the mail or gmail app to view the emails? Is it a gmail account? Have you updated to the latest firmware for the phone?

mine works no problem. if the images arent showed then i get the button to click that says to show images at the top of the email

I know this question was not directed at me but since I have the same issue I figured I would share my experience. On my Hero I have noticed that I do not get a "show picture" button when an individual has forwarded an email with an imbedded jpeg. If I get an email from newegg, amazon, etc. then I get the show picture button. My phone has the latest firmware (since Sprint is not releasing them every week it makes it easy to keep up) and I am using the built in gmail client. Using the browser allows me to see these attachments.

Yeah that's what mine does, yet when I make and HTML email with Outlook (2003 version) and embed an image, when I receive it with Gmail app on device, all I get is the blue square question mark.

Most of the emails I receive from Newegg, or Tigerdirect, give me a button as stated in previous posts to "Show Pictures" which works. There must be something in the body of the HTML of those emails that is triggering a response to display the "Show Image" button. What that could be I have no idea, I've looked at the source on some of the emails from Newegg, and I don't see anything that would trigger it.

So far I've done 3 test emails with Outlook and the only success I have is ironically with plain text and adding the image as an attachment. The picture show's in the email, then I have a "Download" button only button.

Yep I have the exact same experience as gc444. I also have latest firmware, just checked. I think I read somewhere that gmail does this on purpose with the built in mobile client, I'll try to look it up. I do get show button also when getting alert mails from sites like Unwired View, and it works, but never from embedded forwarded emails. However, as I already mentioned, I can view embedded attachments using gmail straight from the browser, which is also integrated in Dolphin.

Some I get some i don't? . Mostly porn jokes don't seem to show up when forwarded to me. Yet my co works IPhone shows them. This is with both Comcast and Gmail.I use both at this point. And if I check the same email on my home PC they will appear. Is this sprint or the phone.
