What's this satellite icon?

I've got an icon that I can't figure out and it's not show in the user manual with the other icons on pages 7-8. It looks like a white satellite dish pointing to the right with 2 green flashing waves coming out of it. It's not a sync icon which is the two arrows in a circle.

Anyone seen it?

it's gps actively tracking your location. you should have another icon that looks like a circle and cross-hair. that one shows that gps is on.

hope that helps.

in settings - Location

I just turned off "use wireless networks", "location setting", and "enable gps satellites" to see if it would go off. Now, my gps cross hairs have the line thru them but this satellite icon is still flashing the green waves.

I'm not sure that it is related to gps.

no, the wifi is like a dot with 3 waves going straight up from it, and it does not flash and the waves are not green either. I can see the wifi one in the manual and this is not it.

I'm thinking it may be from some app since I don't see this satellite icon in the manual.

Yes, it is Google Maps getting a fix on your location via GPS. It should not show up if you have GPS satellites disabled...

It shows up when any application gets a GPS fix.

If your GPS is enabled, it will consume your battery faster.

GPS and any additional radios will drain your battery faster, they have to use power. So the same will be true for wifi and bluetooth.

It's the GPS satellite tracking your position, if you want to take it off go to settings then locations, if you driving and going some where then you can turn it back on to find certain places around your area
