"with Google"

So, in all the unboxing videos and publicity pics Ive seen the Hero has just had "HTC" on the back of the battery cover. To my surprise when I opened mine it has "with Google" on it, I was under the impression that was designated for "google experience" phones only. (Something google said would not be coming to any phones with the "Sense".)

i'll have to check that later.. didnt notice it when i put my microsd card in, but i know my box says with google.

Google is not mentioned on my box or on the phone at all.

Odd. Just noticed it does also say it on the front of the box also. Right under the HTC HERO badge at the top right.

That really is strange. Maybe you have a box/phone that was a first run before they changed the style, because out of the 10-20 I saw today (most of them demos), none had the Google logo.

Where/through who/when did you get yours?

Got mine through telesales. Ordered yesterday and received today.

Ah crap, here we go again, we're gonna have a Box of many colors and with and w/out Google. Mine has Google on phone, box is still in car.

Clearly this means his phone is better than ours and we should just throw our non-Google stamped Heros in the trash right now.

Is it possible that a phone that has "with Google" is an older model, with older firmware? This has peaked my interest a bit. When I get mine on Sunday, I may make a point to make sure I get one with HTC on the battery cover.

On my non-Google branded Hero, my Firmware version is 1.5, Build number 1.22.651.1 146733 CL62456 release-keys, Software version 1.22.651.1, Hardware version 0002.

I'm interested in that last number, wonder what people's phones with out the "with google" branding is.
