bluetooth pan?
I know there has been discussions about tethering with bluetooth. I have been able to use the DUN setting and tether just fine. But I recall reading a post either here or on crackberry that stated the user didn't use DUN just connected the BT and then used the internet. I am thinking this was more of a BT Pan setup like I used with my Diamond.
Can any one explain to me how to tether w/o DUN using bt? IF it can be done. And/or what the alternate methods of tethering are. I know there will be some responses to search or there are already threads about this but I'll give the standard reply that I have searched and really wanted to find the previous post specifically, I just can not find it. I am new to BB but not new to smart phones. I have read so much and learned so much about the Blackberry (Tour in particular) in the week I've had my phone that my head is swimming! Any help with the difference techniques is appreciated.

I am not sure what DUN is but here is how I did it. Installed BB desktop, paired phone and computer, went to control panel-> internet options, add connection, select modem, select bluetooth, enter #777 for the phone number and the username/password you use to login to your Sprint account on their webpage. Hit connect and you are good to go. Took a grand total of about 5 minutes. Sure beats $50 for tetherberry that I was about to buy.

You don't even need a username/password. Just use #777 or *99# and it will work just fine.

Yes, this is how I've done it. DUN is Dial Up Network which is the method described.
I was asking if there is a method of bluetooth PAN (personal area network) that is more "internet sharing" rather than phone as a modem.

Gotcha, similar to WMwifirouter but with bluetooth. I haven't every tried it but technically speaking I don't see why it wouldn't work.

![]() Technically you need to get a tethering plan. I tried to get pricing info but every rep I talked to was clueless so I am just giving it some light use and see what happens when the bill gets here. Others have reported no issues with being billed for it using that method. I don't need tethering until September so I have some time to get my set-up sorted.
